Take a few minutes to hear directly from #MOFB member Keith Stevens and learn more about Amendment 1 and why we are supporting it. Vote yes on Amendment 1 on August 4.
Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Dairy, Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, Missouri Corn Growers Association, Missouri Soybean Association, and Missouri Pork Association issued the following joint statement regarding today's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that reaffirms federal authority over pesticide labeling requirements under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The ruling provides farmers with greater certainty by reinforcing a consistent national standard for pesticide labeling, helping ensure continued access to crop protection tools backed by sound science.
“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a major victory for Missouri farmers and farm families who depend on clear, science-based rules to raise food, fuel, and fiber for our country. Farmers need certainty that crop protection tools approved through the federal regulatory process will remain available and governed by a consistent national standard, not a patchwork of conflicting state-by-state requirements.
“Glyphosate and other crop protection products are essential tools for farmers working to control weeds, protect yields, reduce soil disturbance, and keep farms productive. When litigation threatens to override federal science-based labeling decisions, it creates uncertainty that can drive critical tools out of the marketplace and make it harder for farmers to do their jobs. This decision affirms the importance of federal regulatory consistency and recognizes that pesticide labels should be guided by the law and the expert agencies charged with reviewing these products.
“Missouri’s agriculture organizations will continue standing up for farmers’ access to safe, effective, and legally approved tools they need to feed and fuel America.”

#MOFB President @JGarrettHawkins issued the following statement after the recent filing of an amicus brief in support of four local businesses involved in the case of 807 Manchester, LLC, et al. vs. City of Brentwood, Missouri. The case centers on the City of Brentwood’s effort to designate the properties as “blighted,” a determination that opens the door for the use of eminent domain to take the property from the current business owners and transfer the land to a proposed $436 million commercial redevelopment project. Missouri Farm Bureau partnered with Missouri Cattlemen’s Association and the Law Firm of Haden & Colbert on the amicus brief.
“Missouri Farm Bureau has filed an amicus brief to defend all private property owners, whether they live in a big city or rural area. Eminent domain was never intended for government to take private property and hand it over to another private entity in the name of economic development. When business owners invest their time, resources, and livelihoods into their property, they deserve certainty those rights will be protected.
“The situation in Brentwood is a troubling example of how eminent domain can be stretched beyond its intended purpose. Missouri law is clear: eminent domain should be reserved for legitimate public use, not private redevelopment projects. Missouri Farm Bureau will continue to stand with landowners and fight against efforts that erode private property rights. If the government can take property from one private owner simply to give it to another, every Missourian should be concerned.”

#MOFB President @JGarrettHawkins issued the following statement in support of Missouri @AGCHanaway for her challenge to New York’s regulatory overreach:
“We appreciate Attorney General Hanaway for standing up for Missouri agriculture and defending the constitutional principle that one state cannot dictate policy for businesses operating in another. This lawsuit is about protecting states’ rights, preserving energy independence and pushing back against burdensome regulations that unfairly target agriculture and rural industries beyond New York’s borders. Missouri Farm Bureau supports this effort to protect farmers, biofuel producers and rural communities from unnecessary red tape that threatens competitiveness and drives up costs for consumers.”

We appreciate members of the House who supported this legislation and recognize the importance of renewable fuels to both the farm economy and our nation’s energy security. Missouri Farm Bureau encourages the Senate to act quickly to get this legislation across the finish line.
The bipartisan vote to allow the sale of year-round E15 will benefit drivers and farmers at a time both are desperately in need of good news. We urge the Senate to follow the House’s lead and approve the sale of E15 year-round. It’s a win-win for farmers and for all of America.
