Congratulations to Prof Eileen Murphy of @arcpalqub who became a Member of the Royal Irish Academy last week. We are extremely proud of her and this fantastic and prestigious achievement
We've been digging into the past near #Downpatrick, trying to uncover the site of a 12th century monastery.
A group of our archaeologists teamed up with local school children and volunteers on the two-week excavation, during which they unearthed sections of a wall, pottery, bone and slate, and even a 13th Century coin!
Incredible work, everyone. We hope we have helped inspire some of the next generation of budding archaeologists.

@MontgorHeather@HeritageFundNI@QUBCommunities1 It was also great to have local MLAs @CathyMasonSF & Andy McMurray @cllrmcmurray & their local council colleagues join us at CAPNI for some hands on archaeology & supporting the outreach to local schools & community mental health support groups.
Our recent CAPNI excavation at Erenagh Co Down has made the news!
Many thanks too to the The National Lottery Heritage Fund Northern Ireland for funding the CAPNI programme, without which none of our community engagement would be possible.
