@cremieuxrecueil@ATabarrok Not really a teaching, more of a of heresy. "expulsions from Missouri and Illinois, Joseph Smith’s violent death, the migration to the Great Basin, the creation of a quasi-independent society–is one of resistance to centralized government power." is the more likely reason.
@thegenesisbl0ck My sister did this. She started a robotics club. Teaches at the school part time for free so they can't tell her what to do. Organize a boys camp. Intellectual horsepower being used for non-economic means led to a boon for her small town.
We need a new visa system for anyone with this good of a take. Automatic citizenship. If attention is the new currency, this guy deserves automatic citizenship.
Venezuelan man:
“Those who say that the U.S. is only interested in our oil, I ask you:
What do you think the RUSSIANS and the CHINESE wanted here?
The recipe for arepas?"
😂😂😂
I’ve been thinking about this David Foster Wallace quote more and more recently
“The technology is just gonna get better and better and better and better. And it's gonna get easier and easier, and more and more convenient, and more and more pleasurable to be alone with images on a screen, given to us by people who do not love us but want our money. Which is all right. In low doses, right? But if that's the basic main staple of your diet, you're gonna die. In a meaningful way, you're going to die."
@realEstateTrent I think its less about spoiling and more about the getting on the hedonic treadmill. A kid who starts with top tier experiences will adjust to those experiences and the experiences will become the baseline. This is true even if the kid is a good/grateful kid.
@sparkmanpatriot Looks like some good dudes having a good time. Glad they are able to use the church. Im sure thats a great ward and a great youth group.
@Chris_arnade@_____Lightning Things like gambling probably best belong in the grey zone. legal, but no advertising allowed. confined to certain areas/times. Make it possible but not encouraged.
@buccocapital I hope he is wrong. If attracting SV talent to the govt leads to better outcomes we all win. Its an oustanding question whether it was a lack of "talent" or that the structure wouldn't allow a solution. I bet Obama is right but hope he is wrong.
@Rory_Johnston To me, its less about any specific policy that would benefit O&G and more that he is a smart, thoughtful, and empathetic man who understands energy generally. That kind of leadership is encouraging for whatever energy challenges we have in the next 4 years.
I know the election is over but i don’t want the podcasts to stop. I want Biden’s exit interview on Lex, I want Kamala’s post-mortem on Theo Von, and I want Trump to hold the State of the Union on Joe Rogan going forward.
