"We think he's the best wide receiver in the league and should be compensated as such. We think he's one of the best non-quarterbacks in the league, and think he should be compensated as such."

Vikings want to pay Justin Jefferson, not trade him. ICYMI:

Peter and I have been discussing this for more than a year so he didn't catch me off guard.
Just to echo emotions expressed by readers and colleagues, what he has done as a writer and story teller all these years has been an unmatched, remarkable treasure.
His final column today is fitting and PK didn't shy away from the things he loves, his reasons on the timing and things that appropriately concern him.
A better person, there is not. Happy for him, his wife Ann and his girls. ❤️✍️🏈⚾️

Update on Steve McMichael:

Steve is currently getting a blood transfusion and has MRSA. We are asking for your prayers to get Steve through this difficult time. Steve, his family and close friends believe in the power of prayer. Thank you.

Dean was more than a colleague, he was part of our family. He served the @ArkRazorbacks for more than 50 years and now has earned his rest. He was a true legend who will forever be missed. We love you, Deano!

Dean Weber was a dear, dear friend we lost today. We are so heartbroken.

Membership it is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of former @UArkansas athletic trainer
Mr. Dean Weber. He was a #greAT advocate for the athletic training profession and he will be missed. God speed my friend. 😢

Congrats to my guy @CamHeyward. I am so proud of the man you are. What you do on the field is your job. What you do off the field represents the person you are. You are a true leader on the team and in the community. I am honored to be your coach.

It’s the unofficial Alex Smith Super Bowl. Smith was drafted No. 1 overall by the 49ers, traded to the Chiefs, and spent time mentoring Patrick Mahomes before moving back to the Bay Area. And Smith thinks the 49ers’ defense is in trouble.

Another change in Atlanta: General manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Raheem Morris now will report to Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank, not CEO Rich McKay as it was.

Former Giants’ HC Tom Coughlin on the Raiders hiring Antonio Pierce: “I could not be prouder of Antonio Pierce being named head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I’m excited for him, his family, and the franchise. This is the team he grew up watching, and his belief in himself and in the players is why he is there. He is a great student of the game, a quick learner with a great attitude, and he is eager to get to work. The 2024 season just got a lot more interesting with him at the helm. Go get ‘em AP!”

16 years ago today, Tom Coughlin’s face was very cold 🥶

[Chris Mortensen @mortreport]

@mspears96 I can affirm that @mspears96 cannot be swayed. He’s coming at it from a defensive player perspective the majority cannot truly relate. His gripe is with the league. He’s a Josh Allen fan; just disagrees on this specific play. I tried but he isn’t changing mind. 😂

Here was part of Schneider’s opening statement, where he recalled getting hired by Seattle in 2010 and thinking he’d then hire the head coach — only to find out Carroll was already the choice.

Schneider got a bit choked up talking about their partnership the last 14 years.
