Everyone has their takeaway from last night's #Rihanna concert. Mine is that an ambitious woman took a break from the stage for 7 years, and she re-entered with more confidence and clarity on what was important than ever before.
Modern home parents don’t benefit from memes celebrating her contribution by showing her buried under children and laundry. Show her networking on playgrounds. Volunteering at schools. Planning household budgets. Working on side projects after bedtime. Show her as whole.
I don’t know who needs to hear this today but your children’s behavior at the Halloween party, their costume being home-made or store-bought or the extent of your fall decorations is not a measure of your success in this season.
The most anti-feminist and traditionalist thing in 2022 is not a woman choosing to pause or slow her career to focus on family life for a moment. It's the act of judging other women for making the best choice for herself and her family.
Our culture values time away from the traditional work force for the armed forces because of the leadership training and personal growth in the field.
I'm committed to changing the conversation so the same can be true for time away from the paid work force for caregiving.
