Why would a D1 Athletic Director step away after 25+ years?
That question says a lot about where things are headed.
We’re sitting down with @ChristinaRoybal, former AD at NKU, to talk about what’s really changing in higher education, and what it means for college athletics.
She'll go beyond the headlines and surface level takes and get straight to the reality of what leaders are navigating right now.

Week 10 brought the Motion team out west.
From the “Mile High City” to “The Gem State” of Idaho, where chased conversations, not just meetings.
College athletics doesn’t slow down, and neither do the people holding it all together. Long days. Tight budgets. Full calendars. And still… they show up.
This week started in Denver, where we onboarded our newest Account Executive, Mallory Olsson — a former college and professional soccer player. There’s something powerful about bringing someone in who’s lived it and understands the grind behind the scenes.
From there, we flew to Idaho for a sales pitch.
We sat with athletic directors and administrators. We toured the facilities, and we got to witness an electric women’s basketball game — the kind of energy that reminds you why all this work matters in the first place.
We’re not just building software. We’re building relationships with the people who keep college athletics moving every single day.
That’s why Motion exists: to elevate athletic competition and by equipping the people who make it happen.
Ten weeks into this journey and we’re still listening, learning, and showing up.
Follow along as we keep changing college sports, one campus at a time.

📈 The Motion team is growing, and we're thrilled to welcome Mallory Olsson to our roster!
Mallory recently concluded her professional soccer career with the Orlando Pride, competing at the highest level in the NWSL. Prior to that, she played at the Division 1 level at both Miami and UCF, earning her Master's of Science in Physiology in the process.
As both a former student-athlete and professional athlete, Mallory brings a unique perspective the challenges that our customers face. She understands the financial, operational, and performance demands of athletic departments and organizations, enabling her to build meaningful relationships rooted in trust, performance, and measurable results.
Now based in Colorado, Mallory channels her competitive edge through mountain running and CrossFit.
Week 9 of Changing College Sports took us to Washington, DC for the NCAA Convention.
College sports doesn’t change from one keynote or one rule change.
It changes in side comments. In shared questions. In people trying to figure this thing out together.
We didn’t come with a checklist. We came to listen. To learn. To stay close to the people carrying the weight of what’s next. That’s why Motion exists.
Not to be the loudest voice. But to support the people doing the work, and preparing for a future that’s still being written.
Grateful for the conversations, DC. Week 9 down.
Follow along as we keep changing college sports.

Week 8 of Changing College Sports and Motion is hitting the road.
Texas bound. Airport pickups. Early mornings.
And enough coffee to keep college athletics moving.
This stop took us to Lamar University — presentations, onboardings, and meaningful conversations with teams doing the work every day
Lamar University is full of people who care deeply about their student-athletes. People who love the work, even when it’s heavy.
Trips like this remind us why Motion exists. Not for software or features. But for the people. Lamar — thank you for the hospitality, the conversations, and the time.
Follow along. We’ve got a lot more stories to tell here soon!

We had a great time in Texas this week educating student-athletes at Lamar University on NIL and getting them set up with Motion Money.
A great university with some amazing facilities and even better staff.
Thanks for the hospitality, Lamar!

It’s Week 7 of Changing College Sports.
Most fans never see this side of college sports, the complexity, the confusion, the and constant friction.
For five years, our co-founder Nate Ebel worked inside the system. Brand deals. Sports agencies. Athletes and NIL. Athletic departments trying to keep up. What he saw wasn’t a lack of passion.
It was people, specifically on the administrative side of athletics, buried under systems that were never built for them.
As a former brand manager and agency owner, Nate had a front-row seat to how confusing, fragmented, and exhausting college sports operations can be.
And eventually, that view changed everything.
That’s why Nate is a Co-Founder of Motion. Because fixing college sports doesn’t start with louder voices, it starts with better systems that actually support the people doing the work.
This is Nate’s story. And this is why we’re changing college sports.
Follow along as we keep building something better — together.

A new year doesn’t magically fix old systems.
In college athletics, January often means more pressure,
higher expectations, and the same understaffed reality behind the scenes.
We’ve seen the burnout. We’ve felt the weight of doing too much with too little.
After years inside athletic departments, one truth became clear to us:
college sports doesn’t need people to work harder.
It needs better systems, real support, and pricing that actually makes sense.
So this year, our resolution is different.
Build Motion the right way.
Listen before building.
Put administrators first — not profits.
And make the behind-the-scenes work lighter so no one has to carry it alone.
This is Week 6 or 7 of Changing College Sports.
Follow along as we keep building for the people who make it all happen.

It’s Week 5 and we are delivery Christmas care packages to the hard working athletic administrators of Marian University! 🎁
Last week, we gathered the supplies. This week, we turned intention into action.
Care packages assembled by hand. Thoughtfully packed. Built with one purpose: to show appreciation for the people who keep college athletics running, long before the lights turn on and long after they shut off.
Because changing college sports doesn’t start with systems.
It starts with people.
With showing up.
With saying thank you—face to face.
Week 5 is another step forward. More campuses ahead. More conversations to be had. More support to give.
Follow along as the mission continues.

Week 4. Same heartbeat. A bigger reason. Same mission: changing college sports by showing up for the people who keep it moving. 📦
This week, the team took the mission on the road, not to demo software or pitch features, but to deliver something simple and sincere: appreciation.
Care packages, hand-delivered to sports administrators who do the unseen work every single day.
The early mornings. The late nights. The packed calendars. The budgets, the pressure, the constant problem-solving that keeps student-athletes, coaches, and programs running.
No asks. No expectations. Just a thank you.
Changing college sports starts with listening. With recognizing the people behind the programs. With reminding them they’re not doing this alone.
Week 4 marks another step forward—and we’re only getting started. More visits ahead. More conversations to be had. More support to give.
Follow along next week as we assemble and deliver these care packages.
