Cleveland’s police responded to the Browns kneeling in 2017 with refusing to hold the US flag at the Browns opening game. Instead they ran out on the field with the players. #PHED135
An example of athletes speaking out is when police shot and kill Jacob Blake in Kenosha Wisconsin. The NBA, MLB, MLS, and more all partook in boycotting their games in protest. #PHED135
Bahati VanPelt the chief of athlete services for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Commitee said “there are opportunities that will open that otherwise would not be possible if an athlete didn’t speak out.” #PHED135
Colin Karpernick kneeled during the national anthem on august 14, 2016, without knowing starting a movement of pro athletes speaking out about social injustices. #PHED135
Athletes have so much more power to create change on social justice issues than ever before. As more and more pro athletes speak out more and more people are trying to shut them down. #PHED135
If your school says they don’t have enough funding for your physical education ambitions that’s okay because there are plenty of grands to help. Such as, action for healthy kids, SHAPE America, the clif bar family foundation and many more provide money. #PHED135
Most elementary schools have recess however not every school has it. It is necessary to advocate for a recess of at least 30 minutes in your school. #PHED135
Physical education is very important in schools. The society of health and physical education recommends that schools have at least 150 minutes of instruction in PE. #PHED135
