Hey #JASSlearns community tomorrow is the beginning of Quadmester 3! Check your PDSB Gmail account / Brightspace / Google Classroom to find out where your classes "meet". We start things off with an A1 Wednesday.
#JASSNBE is grateful to be learning from @IsaacMurdoch1 and @KanahusFreedom today abt land title, resource extraction, violence against Indigenous people, colonialism & solidarity and action. #JASSlearns
Thank you to @woodlandcc for a phenomenal learning experience on our virtual field trip yesterday with #JASSNBE students. Our facilitators were exceptional and spent so much time with us for the Q&A. We are grateful to be able to learn with you.
#JASSNBE got to participate in a livestream with THE @notoriouscree and my favourites parts were when he beatboxed with a traditional flute & learning that 5 hoops=the coming together of spirit, mind, body & ancestors. Incredible opportunity TY!
Listening to my #JASSNBE Gr11 College Ss as they collaborate virtually in breakout rooms to plan podcasts about cultural appropriation and I have to say that despite the hardest year I’ve ever experienced, STUDENTS ROCK. I’m so proud of their perseverance & critical thinking
@MaryFramilton The T is able to share/block access to the Jamboard, move/delete any posts & change settings afterwards to view only. Worked really well!
I just had an awesome session about analysis doing a live Meet with my #JASSNBE class using JamBoard. Ss were able to post their ideas on colour-coded sticky notes as we worked through the lesson & I recorded the lesson to share with Ss who could not join us.
Giving feedback to my #ENG2P classes on their podcasts (using @anchor ) and listening to them has me grinning ear to ear. They were told to choose a topic they love and wow they came through. I miss my students!!!
@vmissc EDL can lead to widening gaps in achievement. CRP is a student-centred framework which is particularly crucial when learning environments and access to teachers & tools are compromised. More than ever learning needs to be relevant and accessible! #RethinkingEnglish#EDL
@MzMcKeown@ReganCheney@KulsoomAnwer@jrichea@keldomcdonald You have always been an incredibly thoughtful & reflective educator and I am humbled to have influenced your teaching in any way. Grateful that we have been able to work together pushing boundaries with Rethinking English this year and going forward.
Our student podcast "63 Three: The Podcast" has a brand new episode. Episode 6: Missing and Murdered features a Grade 11 student reflecting on her learning about #MMIWG - check it out right here on our newly updated blog. https://t.co/iUjRGvADVl #shareyourlearning#jasslearns
Had my first #JASSNBE breakout Google Meet just now with six amazing Ss talking about land disputes. Blown away by their passion and insights & I’m reminded how much I love being a teacher. 😭
Today in #ENG2P students paired up to share summaries of their short non-fiction books, ask questions, and find similarities. Talking about what you’re reading helps build comprehension and critical thinking!
A grade 10 student today was analysing a poem & when he got to a prompt about imagery he told me he tried to write his thoughts “but then I just decided to draw what the poem made me see in my head”. 😭His sheet is now covered in beautiful sketches #JASSlearns
Exclamations of glee and delight this morning in my Grade 11 class as I passed out scratch and sniff stickers. 😂 Big kids are still kids and it brightened everyone’s day!
Join us next Thursday for our Winter 2019 IMPACT Night! There will be live performances and demonstrations, student displays, informative talks, and documentary films. #jasslearns#shareyourlearning#whatwillyoubesharing
