Those living with dementia still have likes, dislikes, hobbies & history β we should never make assumptions about someone because of their dementia.
Itβs important to see the person before the dementia, and support loved ones to do the things they enjoy, for as long as possible.
@doctorcaldwell I called the ward looking for an update on dad. Nurse came on and said 'hi, you want an update on rm 15?'
My heart broke
This was last week
@katemasters67 @EndPJparalysis@ECISTNetwork@BrianwDolan One of saddest sights for me is frail patients having to spend their last 100 days in hospital because nowhere for them to go & be well cared for in a homelike setting. Delayed Discharges can deny people of their right to a calm loved non clinical end of life. @drkathrynmannix
Did you know the prevalence of delirium in people on medical wards in hospital is 20-30%? And even higher on surgical wards? On world delirium day letβs ignite our alertness to delirium and how important it is to spot it and treat it as soon as possible #WDAD2021

Dr Medhat Atalla, a much-loved and respected doctor at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, has sadly passed away at the hospital, following treatment for Covid-19. As a team we are truly saddened and we will miss him every single day. https://t.co/StXUvuPxb4
As we have to pick ourselves up from the loss of our own consultant to covid I cannot think of better words to share with my team at this awful time. We have lost a wonderful Dr but we must walk on caring for his patients Rip Dr Atalla @DBH_NHSFT@Juliewragster@LFC@JHenderson

Now more than ever, we need to start to make those small changes in work to prevent #stress and look after our mental health.
Start small with one thing at a time.... #MentalHealthAwareness#bekind#kindness
