As we step into 2026, we celebrate discovery, innovation, and excellence in biochemistry.
May this year bring groundbreaking research, academic growth, and limitless scientific impact.
Together, we decode life. Together, we shape the future.

Using the chimpanzee adeno-vector platform as a case study, Dr. Sheila Balinda, a molecular virologist at the @MRC_Uganda shared her intellectual property (IP) journey, highlighting how she leveraged institutional support during the filing process to protect vaccine development for #CCHF and #COVIDー19.
She emphasised that once an innovation is protected, researchers are better positioned to engage in collaborative partnerships and attract further investment and funding.

The training also focused on strengthening collaboration across the research cycle. Researchers, Community Advisory Board (CAB) members, and community engagement teams reflected on their roles from problem identification to dissemination and jointly mapped the stakeholders to engage at each stage.
These inclusive discussions are aimed at shaping a stronger Community Engagement framework, one that bridges gaps, aligns roles, and keeps communities at the heart of research.
The Biochemistry Catch-Up has just got juicier!
Let’s talk Angiogenesis
Did you know it’s how new blood vessels sprout from the old ones?
It’s a key player in healing cancer.

Whether you're majoring in Biochemistry or it's just that one annoying unit in your course this is your semester.
Biochem won't magically turn into a bedtime story, but it can stop feeling like a burden.
It is about understanding life @ molecular level and that’s pretty *epic*
Some things might seem obvious, but not everyone knows everything and sometimes, one or two simple tips can change how your whole final year goes. Here’s to a smoother semester.
You got this.
On the 7th of July 2025 We were delighted to take part in the 12th GDEP Bioenergy conference at Kampala Serena Hotel where we were able to appreciate the knowledge of biochemical processes used to break down biomass and organic wastes into renewable energy which is cleaner.

Ask yourself:
● In what other areas of science could CRISPR-Cas9 be applied to solve real-world problems?
●How might gene editing reshape the future of medicine, food security, or even climate science?
●Science is bigger than any single post.
