Hopefully they won't cave in and rename Anfield into Turkish Airlines stadium. If Arsenal and City caved in, FSG will do the same. YNWA

Emirates stadium. Etihad stadium. The brand alignment is wrong. Slippery slope here getting governments involved.

@adaela1980 @LFC This isn't about Turkey. It's about sovereign funds getting involved in football. I wouldn't like Anfield being renamed Aegean Air or Turkish Airlines stadium. Sovereign funds already were able to change stadium names for City and Arsenal. Liverpool is next in line.

Turkey owns over 49% of Turkish Airlines. I have the same issue with other teams getting in bed with governments.

@Rumiya_30 @LFC Dig deeper. Turkiye Wealth Fund owns over 49% of Turkish Airways. Not a fan of sovereign funds in football. They're dominating now (Real Madrid, Arsenal, AC Milan, City, PSG etc). Next thing you know Anfield stadium will be renamed the Amazon stadium. Slippery slope here.

@kazim313m @FKalemciNotes @LFC It is a shame. I'd prefer sponsorless jerseys. Next thing you know they'll rename Anfield for the sake of making more money. Not a fan. Wasn't particularly a fan of Standard Chartered either. The Premier league has become a vicious circle of selling out or you can't compete.

@VJK1903 @LFC The issue that I disagree with is sovereign funds having such a huge control of football today ⚽️ It is way too political. Could be labeled sportswashing by others. It is not good in the long run. It’s not merely a Liverpool issue. It's becoming prevalent and acceptable.

@VJK1903 @LFC I'm not a fan of sovereign funds sponsoring football teams unless they are local. I have no issue with Turkish Airlines sponsoring Galatasaray, Besiktas, Fenerbahce, or Trapzonspor. Makes a lot of sense. Liverpool should not follow City, PSG, Real Madrid, or Arsenal. YNWA
