As we are facing climate change our vernacular houses are not safe for living due to strong cyclones and people are living in European houses as a result we are loosing sight of our Samoan fales. #MuseumWeek2018#DifferenceMW

In February this year the Museum of Samoa staffs participated in a workshop on MUSEUM EDUCATION IN THE PACIFIC-BUILDING RESILIENCE that was held Suva, Fiji. This workshop was held for the museums and cultural heritage professionals in the Pacific. #MuseumWeek2018#DifferenceMW

It is one of the world’s rarest bird species, which is all the more reason for protection not only this species but also the environment for them. Because of the concern for its survival, it was given full legal protection and declared the National Bird. #MuseumWeek2018#NatureMW
The bird’s unique beak is adaptable to feed on had fruits which most birds cannot open. Like most pigeons, the Manumea is slow to breed, with each adult female bird laying only one egg a year. #MuseumWeek2018#NatureMW
According to recent studies, the Manumea was sited in the rainforests of Tafua, Falealupo, Asau and Aopo in Savaii and in the rainforests of Aleipata in Upolu. #MuseumWeek2018#NatureMW
The children’s beautiful works amaze the museum staff. The programme will be continuously developed for children. We really enjoy holding educational workshops as great opportunities for us to discover more and more of the children’s imagination. #MuseumWeek2018#KidsMW
The students loved the card game which was designed for them to learn the pattern elements as well as work sheets to colour and to create geometrical patterns based on traditional designs. This programe is referred to the national curriculum of visual arts #MuseumWeek2018#KidsMW
Our latest workshop from the end of March to early April this year, the workshop was titled “Museum Discovery Trip: Colouring Siapo/Tapa” is in relation to the pattern of Samoan bark cloth. #MuseumWeek2018#KidsMW
Then they expressed the discoveries using comment cards. In September, the workshop was held in the exhibition by Australian High Commission in Samoa. Kids enjoyed storytelling by incorporating characters from the exhibits in their made up stories. #MuseumWeek2018#KidsMW
We have held 4series containing of five to 6days per series of this workshop programme every quarter since May 2017. In May and November last year, the students picked up their favorite artefacts and historical picturesand they drew each object carefully. #MuseumWeek2018#KidsMW
First before the children are taken to have their “Museum Discovery Trip” the museum staff introduces the museum roles, rules and regulations. By this doing so, the children participating can learn the importance of safeguarding national heritage. #MuseumWeek2018#KidsMW
