In 2020, COVID-19 revealed the bottleneck in the biopharmaceutical industry.
In 2023, we started researching, brainstorming, and working to solve these bottlenecks.
Fast forward to 2026, and we are glad of how far we have come.
The bravery does not just lie in the discovery, but the courage and the belief that cancer patients will have hope again with what we are building @MustardBio
What are we building?
Mustard Biopharma is a deeptech/lifescience startup applying the concept of 'Dark factories' by developing software-defined manufacturing of specialized medicines (such as anti-cancer meds) using AI.
We are building the first AI-native, autonomous medicine manufacturing ecosystem by developing a smart factory that runs autonomously on our proprietary Human-In-The-Loop Operating System (OS).
Our goal is to make high-quality biologics/biosimilars/generic medicines up to 30 times cheaper and 10 times faster than global manufacturers by leveraging our advanced automation and smart manufacturing technologies.
We are not a “Drug Discovery” Startup.
We are a startup innovating the biopharmaceutical industry.
Biopharma manufacturing today is:
• Slow (12–18-month lead times)
• Capital intensive (millions upfront for small batches)
• Operationally inefficient (30–40% lost capacity annually)
• Fragmented across disconnected factories
• Dependent on fragile centralized supply chains
Our Core Solution:
@MustardBio is building the world’s first autonomous biopharma Smart ‘Dark’ Factory. This fully software-defined, AI-native pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem autonomously converts raw materials into finished batches of medicine with minimal human intervention. It is a vertically integrated manufacturing architecture designed from the ground up to autonomously control machines, orchestrate processes, and unify quality assurance, maintenance, compliance, and supply chain management into a single intelligent software platform. At its heart is our proprietary AI-native Factory OS.
Our Factory OS controls two hardware forms:
- A smart factory hub for mass production: large-scale, renewable-powered facilities running on the proprietary software to produce high-volume medicines at scale.
- Mobile mini-factories: easily deployed, renewable-energy-powered, containerized manufacturing pods for low-cost, small-batch, rapid supply at the point of need (e.g., clinical trial sites, pandemic control centers, research labs, and hospitals).
Make it exist first. You can make it good later. Our AI-native mini-factory pods represent the first great technological advancement in medicine manufacturing since the assembly line: autonomous, deployable, and ready for anywhere.
To solve the bottlenecks in the biopharma industry, @MustardBio is applying the “Dark factory” concept.

I have spent years in manufacturing and seen supply chains fail when we need them most.
@MustardBio is building AI-driven mini-factory pods for rapid, on-site production of specialized medicines, anywhere in the world.
This isn’t abstract: it’s about medical readiness for our forces, clinical breakthroughs, and bringing resilient biopharma manufacturing back to America.
Developing cure for cancer is as important as innovating the biopharma industry.
While we await a cure for cancer, it shouldn’t take months running into years to manufacture anti-cancer medicine.
Hence, the bottleneck must be fixed, and the only possible way is fully automating biopharma manufacturing. Imagine slashing 12-18 months of production to weeks. AI is the new baby.
@MustardBio We are applying the “Dark Factory concept.” Now, AI is not taking the jobs but making the job easier and faster.
The goal is 10x faster production and up to 30x lower cost, enabling affordable, accessible medicines globally.

Biologics manufacturing is one of the most time-consuming and capital-intensive processes in Pharma.
In today's traditional biopharmaceutical industry, a single batch of medicine takes 12-18 months to produce. And millions are invested just to make medicines available to patients with rare diseases
Cell culture, purification, and fill-finish require massive cleanrooms, hundreds of manual steps, and validation runs the span quarters.
Our approach @MustardBio uses an AI-orchestrated autonomous system inside deployable mini-factory pods. Software defined processes, robotics, and our Factory OS let us run end-to-end production with far less infrastructure. A single pod can switch molecules rapidly for specialized medicine-anti- cancer drugs, personalized therapies, urgent stockpiles-anywhere its needed.
Traditional Plants are centralized mega facilities. China and India dominate API and finished-dose capacity. The U.S learned the hard way during COVID how fragile that is. We are building the equivalent of distributed, intelligent manufacturing networks: fast, resilient, and 10x faster and up to 30x cheaper for the medicine that matters most.
Chemistry and biology are always the bottleneck. The company and nation that masters autonomous execution will lead the next era of medicine.

While Eli Lilly builds a massive $55B manufacturing empire, the reality remains: Most biopharma still faces the same reality: 3–5 years to break ground, another 9–18 months of process qualification, stability, and inspections. All in series.
@MustardBio collapses that timeline to weeks.
Our deployable Mustard-Pod mini-factories are pre-qualified autonomous units. Plug in power (renewable preferred), load your cell line and media, and the AI-native Factory OS takes over, real-time control of bioreactors, purification, fill-finish, and release testing. No new billion-dollar campus required. No waiting for contract manufacturers who are already booked solid through 2030.
Whether you are a biotech startup needing 5–50 kg clinical batches or a health agency solving a local shortage, the pod brings manufacturing to you. 30x cheaper and 10x Faster& smarter the speed and a fraction of the capex.
The era of waiting for the next centralized plant is over. The future is autonomous, on-demand, and already in the field.
We are not curing cancer (not yet)
Rather, We are a deeptech/lifescience startup applying the concept of 'Dark factories' by developing software-defined manufacturing of specialized medicines (like Anti-Cancer meds) through AI tech.
The bottlenecks in Biopharmaceutical manufacturing will be fully fixed and Biopharma manufacturing will become fully automated.
We are building for patients
That’s our main goal @MustardBio
During COVID-19, I saw cancer patients deprioritized, not because treatments didn’t exist, but because our healthcare system couldn’t manufacture and distribute medicines fast enough due to COVID mortality pressure. Even today, specialized medicines remain delayed and expensive.
@MustardBio, is a deeptech/lifescience startup applying the concept of 'Dark factories' by developing software-defined manufacturing of specialized medicines (like Anti-Cancer meds) through AI tech.
We live in an advanced age of biology. Yet patients are still waiting for life-saving medicines?
This is because manufacturing and supply chains move far too slowly, fragile global networks, high costs, and delays keep specialized treatments (like anti-cancer meds) out of reach.
At @MustardBio, we are changing that.
We are building AI-native autonomous “dark factories”, software-defined manufacturing that compresses months of production into weeks (or days). From smart Factory Hubs for scale to mobile mini-factory pods that let hospitals, clinics, and researchers make mAbs, generics, and personalized therapies on-demand, anywhere.
Work that used to take complex supply chains and teams now happens locally, resiliently, and affordably, 10x faster and 30x cheaper.
Patients can’t wait. Neither can we.

Most peptide manufacturing still relies on solid-phase synthesis. It is a process that runs on tightly controlled solvents, introduces DEA-listed compounds, Group 2A carcinogens, and PFAS into the waste stream, and operates inside centralized facilities that take three to five years to permit and build, plus another twelve months for validation. Even the newer fermentation paths haven’t escaped that bottleneck.
@MustardBio is building a different architecture. Instead of scaling up a single massive site, we are scaling out. Our AI-native Factory OS coordinates modular, autonomous production pods that run recombinant yeast or mammalian cell lines right where demand is. You skip the roughly 12,000 liters of solvent waste per kilo of API. You skip the multi-year construction and qualification cycles.
A Mustard-Pod deploys in weeks, and once a run is initiated, it operates without manual intervention from inoculation through harvest, optimized for small-batch clinical supply and urgent-need biologics.
Anyone in bioprocessing knows the gap between bench-scale cell line development and commercial production. Novo spent over a decade perfecting large-scale fermentation in Denmark. We are solving a different problem: distributed, automated manufacturing that doesn’t require waiting for infrastructure to catch up to patient needs.
Tens of millions rely on biologics and advanced peptides every week. The legacy plant model was designed for an era of predictable, high-volume demand. We’re not waiting for the next mega-facility to come online. The first pods are already deployed. The supply chain just moved closer to the patient.
