A thought about the weakness of American Christianity —
I’ve long held the belief (with anecdotal evidence as well) that the most riveting “coming to Christ” moments have never come from jarring and illuminating sermon from a pastor.
They almost always occur when and where you’d least expect it.
While I could say this is reflective in parts of the inability to be regenerative among our own flocks, I think this also speaks to the fact that we as humans, do not save.
Jesus does.
What I believe this is definitely upstream of however, is that there are many fewer instances of being “further convicted” by any sermon of sorts. And what is unfortunately more common, is that many of the flock fall out of line. Whether by dismay of the lack of truth, or the regurgitation of the same 10 sermons that reaches no deeper than a woman’s jean pocket.
What I have found though, via online sources, is that there are resources for what I have desired to see. Such as Stone Choir for example with many others. (I know there is a current feud but this is besides the point)
To conclude, I wonder, how do we replicate this to a scale that is much more far-reaching? And with an ability to overcome the all-too-common subversive actors?
@Atlas_Thugged_ 1 Peter 2:13-25
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
@Atlas_Thugged_ As hard as it is, God commands us to submit to the authorities many times in the scriptures. It doesn’t mean we don’t stand up for what is right, rather it means we must be willing to take our punishment when standing up for God even when it is wrong when we are punished.
@Atlas_Thugged_ He makes some excellent point in the beginning however by the end he come off quite poorly. He seems to have a personal issue with women in general by the end. A wife is to be a partner to her husband not his servant. It is important to remember Ephesians 5:25 & Matthew 19:4-6.
Verse of the Day - LIFE
John 3:16 (KJV)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
