Wu testified that he hired and paid Solbakken for three lawsuits against Guo. Subpoenas sought communications, payments, call logs, calendars, and links among Wu, Rui Ma, Solbakken, Frankel, Nunberg, and Schwartz.
Then the judge changed. Judge Nervo acknowledged Ma’s motions to quash the subpoenas would “ordinarily” be denied as untimely, then ruled the subpoenas were “wildly inappropriate” for seeking discovery from plaintiff’s counsel. But Frankel and Schwartz were not Ma’s counsel. Nunberg was never reached. Discovery closed before the network could be mapped.

Yet she traveled internationally, used that passport, maintained social media, went out with friends, and contradicted herself about Tinder. She testified she hated Guo. Yet after her alleged escape, she texted him a holiday greeting. Most damaging: key dates and events vanished from memory until documents were placed before her. Her testimony did not revive the story. The paperwork did. Whose script was she following?

2026.8.13 The question wasn’t just who paid Rui Ma’s legal bills. It was who built the case before she entered it. After years of resistance, Ma testified Wu would “sponsor” her. But discovery showed that before Wu even contacted Ma, Sam Nunberg and Richard Frankel had already helped source and vet her law firm. Wu then contacted attorney Lisa Solbakken, Ma’s future lawyer.
Only afterward did Wu cold-call Ma, fund the $150,000 retainer, and pay every bill that followed. By the time Ma entered the lawsuit, the machinery was already in motion.

2026.8.12 This rape allegation was the product of a coordinated campaign run through a single kleptocratic network. AP reported Rui Ma went to the Chinese embassy in London. CCP media operative Hu Shuli then entered the chain, supplying Ma’s number to Bruno Wu. That was no coincidence. Wu had warned Guo in January 2015: comply with the CCDI or face an Interpol Red Notice. That same month, Hu’s Caixin attacked Guo. By 2017, the network had reached America. Hu put Ma into play.
