What I’ve been building the past months

Owning an NFT doesn’t necessarily mean you can preserve the artwork.

Much of the digital art we collect still depends on third parties for pinning, storage, gateways and other dependencies. And ultimately, its accessibility can also depend on the continued existence of the networks on which it lives.

For the past months, we’ve been building something to address this.

It’s called Anchor.

Anchor is open-source, collector-owned preservation infrastructure for digital art.

Think of it as the equivalent of a physical art storage vault, but for your digital collection.

How does it work?

→ Add your Ethereum, L2 and Tezos wallet addresses
→ Anchor downloads the media and dependencies connected to your collection
→ Everything is stored locally on your own device
→ IPFS content is pinned through your own IPFS node, while media hosted on private servers is also pinned to IPFS
→ All Arweave content and associated metadata in your collection are stored locally

No private keys. No custody. Just preservation.

You can download the software for free and install it yourself, or use an Anchor Ready device: a plug-and-play version that requires no technical knowledge.

Anchor is open source and free to use.

The idea is simple: collectors should not have to depend entirely on third parties to preserve the digital art they own. Anchor keeps your collection safely stored and under your control — even if Arweave content becomes unavailable, it can be re-seeded to the network.

We’re now opening a small number of spots for beta testers with some developer experience.
