Thanks to @JonHaidt for the endorsement of my screen time resolution! @LASchools took an important step toward setting thoughtful limits on student screen time and classroom tech use—hope to see other districts follow our lead!
Amazing: LA schools will eliminate personal devices in K and 1st grade, and limit use in grades 2-5, and give parents more options. I think this will catch on nationally:
"The proposal, first put forward by board member Nick Melvoin, grows out of research suggesting that heavy regular use of digital devices harms academic, emotional and physical development."
Thank you to the @latimes for covering our important resolution!
L.A. Daily News: "It's a no-brainer. Nick Melvoin deserves re-election."
Thank you so much to @ladailynews for the endorsement! There is still a ton of work to do at L.A. Unified, which is why my office is fighting for kids every day.
Proud to be endorsed by State Senator @HenrySternCA! It is crucial to work with the state of California to increase funding for our LAUSD schools and guarantee that all kids have the best start in life.

I'm honored to have the endorsement of @AdamSchiff in this crucial LAUSD Board race. Senator Schiff has been an outstanding fighter and advocate for the state of California, and he is a model for standing up against the Trump administration. Thank you for your support, Senator!
Chag Sameach and Happy Passover to all who celebrate! As we sit at our seders tonight and retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt, may we recommit to fighting for justice in our time.
Check out my op-ed on why I'm pushing to limit screen time in @LASchools. My resolution aims to create developmentally appropriate guidelines that balance access to technology with the kinds of instruction and interaction we know help students thrive. https://t.co/q7dYXzE4WQ

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Emily Beutner, and the entire Board District 4 community joins me in sending condolences and love to Austin, Virginia, and the Beutner family during this devastating time.
A year after the Palisades Fire, I was grateful to join the community to commemorate the devastating loss—and celebrate their strength & resilience as we look to the future. Our schools are just one bright spot as the incredible Palisades rebuilds, recovers, & remains #PaliStrong
