#OTD in 1952, the Indianapolis Clowns beat the Chicago American Giants 5-2 to win a round-robin tournament at #Buffalo’s Offermann Stadium that also included the Philadelphia Stars and Kansas City Monarchs. The trophy from the tournament is now on display at the @NLBMuseumKC.

Rap Dixon, All-Star outfielder of the 1920s and 1930s, died #OTD in 1944. Showing both power and speed, Dixon led the Eastern Colored League in both homers and steals in 1928, and had a career batting average of .336. @nlbmprez

It is a park in the community today, but it was the location of Riverside Park in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. It was notably home field of the Dallas Black Giants of the Texas Colored League (Negro Leagues). They featured @baseballhall members Ernie Banks (Mr. @Cubs), Biz Mackey, and Andy Cooper. The hat I'm wearing is a recreation from @RidersBaseball to honor the team.

The #Yankees signed Elston Howard and Frank Barnes #OTD in 1950, the first Black players signed by the organization. Barnes never played for them, but Howard spent 13 years in New York, winning two Gold Gloves and the 1963 American League Most Valuable Player. @nlbmprez
