@ChanceSnod90960 And as such both could have been introduced in the 1970s in an era where racial and gender equality did not exist.
Wilbert, like everyone else, is not a person without flaws but I feel issues would have been worked out and likely could have been ahead of his time
@ChanceSnod90960 The Windrush generation could have provided new drivers and firemen for Sodor, 1979 saw the first female Driver for BR, all things which could have inspired Wilbert to make a diverse and realistic book setting for later volumes.
I’d draw on these as he was a stickler for realism

Sorry for not getting back sooner Luke (and I still encourage people to visit the TR) but the post asked for unpopular opinions.
@AntCoulls Sorry I’ve been away from Twitter and haven’t had the chance to reply until now.
I just personally feel it’s a bit too polished and built upon from what it was many years ago. Don’t get me wrong as it’s a trailblazing line for many good reasons and deserves the support it …
The Corris is a better line to visit locally.
I’m sorry I love any chance to visit a preserved railway but the Talyllyn felt more like a Disney style attraction to me.
Had a far better time whilst riding behind the new(ish) Tattoo and replica coaches, where it was far nicer.
@AntCoulls … gets but for me personally I find the Corris to be more enjoyable for lines in the same area.
It’s all matter of opinion and the post did ask for unpopular ones. Just the impression I got of the place, especially comparing the two places as I went to both on the same weekend

@severn_studios@crikey_fell Also that the Great Western Railway, among others later absorbed into the LMS, LNER and Southern all benefited financially from the abolition of Slavery.
If you want to dig at everything you’ll find flaws in almost all details of Thomas/the books

@BTS_Ott@Expl_Cookie It hasn’t, it’s down the origin of the company making the products.
Wooden Railway led by US designers = US influence (Sodor Caboose, signs, terminology used)
Tomica World led by Japanese designers = Japanese influence (buildings, accessories)
It all needs localisation.
@l0rdliberty@Expl_Cookie@lonely_loco “RailRoad” was a British term long before Americans used it, it’s more how the property is being handled.
Growing up in the 90s with Thomas, it was distinctly British in appearance. Rewatching it with a 3 year old again, it still is. Why US styling is used still is baffling.
@shunting_yard This guy posts slop into a great Facebook group I’m in and the majority lap it up, the few that call out AI either get silenced or the group admin bends the rules to allow it (admin did say no AI posts a while back but backpedaled on that rule 💀)
The decoration on the original Trackmaster Flying Scotsman annoyed me greatly (the steam clouds) so after buying the 80th one, I’ll be replacing the Tenders and Chassis. Body will be painted and a few tweaks will be carried out eventually 🥳
@SuperThomasEli …I was building and in the end up I went for a few N Gauge kits that were modified gently and face areas were painted grey to suit. I’ve seen someone on Facebook building Thomas stock and scenic items adapting toys and other models, might be worth reaching out to them.
@SuperThomasEli The Ertl Miniature/Mini World range would be a good size for these likes of Harold, Bertie and Trevor even if they aren’t super detailed.
Bandai had a Mini Die Cast collection for other characters but scaling may be an issue. Looked into this a while ago for a commission that…
@stingky195 I’ve used AEG mechanisms to repair TM2 mechs, didn’t seem that different from one another bar the longer switch in the cab and extended coupling on the rear.
NM has a collection of Trackmaster2 with a few Tomy items scattered in between. First thought is that it’d be pretty easy to change the rear coupling for a genuine Tomy spare, no need for 3D printing which is a bonus 🤔
Are these in the UK yet?
As all of you have been wondering, what does last year’s Thomas’s look like compared to the new merch? The results are shocking!
Thomas The Tank Engine:
@TheLilWestern Victoria isn’t too out of place considering that coaching stock other than the low slung tramcars were also used on the W&U, it’s her livery that is jarring.
Also could go with a rake of Toby + Elsie + Victoria + Henrietta given photos of the line and how it ran.
