Product screenshots are a pain to maintain.

Every UI change means taking them again, cropping them, exporting them, and hoping nothing is out of date.

So @orbitwrite now uses the actual React components to generate them automatically.

Same UI, sample data, screenshot with Chrome. We can use them across the changelog, docs and landing pages without keeping a second version of the product in Figma.

When I joined https://t.co/3fiR3fU6cP, I realised pretty quickly there was a lot about DNS I’d used for years without really understanding.

So I started learning as much as I could.

Most lunchtimes I’d go for a walk and record myself talking through whatever I’d learned. My brain tends to jump all over the place when I do this, but I actually really enjoy it 😁

I then used AI to check I hadn’t completely misunderstood something, and to help make some sense of my rambling.

I know I could just sit and talk directly to AI... but I’ve found walking around and talking to myself weirdly refreshing!

Anyway somewhere along the way it turned into a book.

It’s called The Phone Book, and it’s basically DNS explained in the simplest way I could manage.

It’s short too because any longer I'd have got bored.

This is still an early version. We’re going to give it some bunny branding and eventually put it on Amazon KDP.

Reading this I just thought maybe worth including an analogy here something along the lines of those tamper-evident numbered seal on the back of a truck you often see. If the seal is intact and the serial number matches you know nobody opened or altered the cargo during transit.
