We know there's a lot of chatter on social media about Tropical Storm Isaias. Here are some reminders for the coming days as the forecast is fine-tuned. #gawx
TS #Isaias has formed over the W Gulf. Widespread rainfall and gusty winds are the current most likely impacts Friday night into Saturday. This is subject to change depending on the storm track so continue to monitor the forecast for updates! #gawx
Tropical Depression 9 has formed in the western Gulf. Here is the 3-day forecast cone which brings the system into the northern Gulf Coast later this week. Impacts to north and central GA remain uncertain at this time, though widespread rain is likely. #gawx
Chances are you've heard whispers of potential development in the Gulf in the next week. This is just a "heads up" post that we are monitoring it, as it's far too early to determine if/when/where impacts could occur. #gawx
For most of north & central GA, the last 48 hours brought periods of rain. For many, 0.5-3 inches fell, but isolated parts of central GA got 4-5 inches! Note: this data has been smoothed/interpolated, so yes, you may have gotten slightly more or less than what's shown here. #gawx
Rain has spread across much of the area. A stalling front, the wedge, and ample moisture from the south will continue to see slow moving moderate to heavy rain across much of the area. #gawx
Rain is on it's way and you can help! Feel free to send us rain reports over the next 48 hours and be part of the forecasting process! You can also head over to mPing and submit weather observations there.
Here's the rainfall forecast for the rest of today thru Monday. ☔️ Sunday will be a washout for most of north & central GA. Like our previous post mentioned, the prime area for especially heavy rain & potential localized flash flooding will be the I-85 corridor & south. 🌧️ #gawx
Periods of heavy rainfall will increase the risk for localized flash flooding across most of north and central Georgia on Sunday. The heaviest rain is expected to fall along and south of I-85.
[9:30 PM Friday - Radar Loop] Showers across parts of north and central Georgia are expected to taper off overnight. Renewed development of showers and a few storms is expected tomorrow (Saturday) mid-morning into the afternoon. ☔️ #gawx
We'll remain unseasonably warm to round off the week and start the weekend, with appreciably cooler, more Fall-like weather returning and lingering through midweek next week. Soon. 🧥#gawx
Similar to yesterday, areas of dense fog (visibility one-quarter mile or less) have developed across the bluish, gray-shaded area. This includes Fulton County, the eastern and southern metro, and south along I-75 to Macon. Improvement is expected by around 9:30-10:00 AM. #gawx
Our extended period of dry and tranquil weather will come to an end this weekend, with periods of locally heavy rainfall possible beginning Friday. Uncertainty remains higher than normal regarding expected totals, but localized amounts of 3 to 4" are possible. #gawx
@NWSSpotter Hey, yep! We ended up sending it out at noon today after getting busy with other things around our normal time (11:30). Sorry for the inconvenience!
A dense fog advisory is in effect until 11am for visibilities less than a quarter mile. Many areas are seeing near zero visibilities. Make sure to slow down and increase distance this morning! #gawx
Areas to the south and east of Macon are likely to experience patchy dense fog through the morning. Be extra cautious on your commute, and remember these tips for driving safely through fog. #gawx
