🚨 NYC Weather Update: Major Winter Storm Expected
...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM SUNDAY TO 6 PM EST MONDAY...
Confidence is increasing in a major coastal winter storm that will bring significant snowfall and strong winds to New York City.
Total snowfall is currently forecast around 13 to 17 inches, with higher totals possible in southern parts of the city. A lower chance remains for 20+ inch totals.
Snow is expected to begin Sunday morning around 6 AM, stay light early, then steadily intensify through the afternoon.
Moderate to heavy snow is likely starting around 6 PM Sunday, with the heaviest conditions expected overnight into Monday morning, especially between 10 PM Sunday and 10 AM Monday. Snowfall rates could exceed 1.5 inches per hour, with periods of 2 to 3 inches per hour possible.
Strong northeast winds will increase Sunday and remain dangerous through Monday evening, with sustained winds 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph.
Widespread minor coastal flooding is expected, with a strong chance of moderate flooding along Jamaica Bay, Staten Island, the Battery, and parts of the Bronx and northern Queens.
Monday morning travel will be extremely hazardous due to heavy snow, strong winds, low visibility, and rapidly accumulating conditions. Plan now to adjust travel, work, childcare, and caregiving plans. More tips: https://t.co/3t3I1pb2xQ and https://t.co/QxnNdasIGx
Temperatures stay cold enough for accumulation through Monday, then rebound into the mid 40s later next week.
The city cannot afford a decision that will punish New Yorkers, especially homeowners and small landlords who are already struggling, while ignoring flaws in the tax system. Mayor Mamdani must work with the legislature to implement fair reforms before considering raising taxes.
More here 👉️ https://t.co/rv49EBX27Z | NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani's 'last resort' proposal to raise property taxes by 9.5% to close a more than $5 billion budget gap is facing pushback from local leaders and small business owners. Meanwhile, Mamdani repeated his call for higher taxes on millionaires and major corporations, and returning more tax dollars from the state to the city.

I stand in full solidarity with the tenants of 2051 Webster Avenue. No family in the Bronx should be forced to live without gas, without reliable heat or in unsafe conditions. I will work with tenants and NWBCCC to hold regulatory agencies accountable.
Tenants at 2051 Webster Ave in the Bronx raised concerns about unsafe conditions and harassment. After sustained tenant advocacy, HPD is escalating enforcement to require repairs and hold the landlord accountable.
We commend the extraordinary professionalism and swift response of @NYPD43Pct officers who saved the life of a choking 2-year-old in our district.

We're yet again at Gravesend Park with @NYPD66Pct and @BPShomrim where the walkways and play equipment were littered with swastikas. These sick individuals need to find out that actions have consequences. @NYPDHateCrimes is investigating. Hopefully justice will be served swiftly.
