CEO of @American_Heart/@American_Stroke, powered by 35 million volunteers, donors and supporters and a #relentlessforce for a world of longer, healthier lives.
At Fenway, we stepped up to the plate to help save lives. Thanks to Tom Werner, @drjashton838, and the @RedSoxFund, @American_Heart trained 400 youth athletes, coaches, educators, and community leaders in Hands-Only CPR. From Savy King’s first pitch to hands-on training across the field, the day was filled with powerful moments that are helping build a Nation of Lifesavers.
Yesterday was truly one for the books. I’m incredibly grateful to Tom Werner, @drjashton838, and the @RedSoxFund for this opportunity to raise awareness and train 400 local youth athletes, coaches, educators, and community leaders in the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR during National CPR & AED Awareness Week.
The day was filled with powerful moments like a pre-game panel discussion and ceremony with cardiac arrest survivor Savy King throwing out the first pitch, and Jim McQuade receiving the American Heart Association Heartsaver Hero Award for saving Marc Henderson’s life with Hands-Only CPR.

For decades, federally supported work has driven scientific innovation, improved health outcomes and delivered lifesaving programs in communities across the U.S. and around the globe. That’s why @American_Heart has raised serious concerns about a proposed rule that would fundamentally change how federally funded research and grant programs are awarded and reviewed. Read my statement below.
"Predictable, transparent and evidence-based approaches to funding are essential to maintaining the nation’s leadership in research and ensuring that communities continue to benefit from effective public health programs." - @NancyatHeart on the Office of Management and Budget proposal to shift the federal financial assistance process.

CPR & AED Awareness Week is a reminder that survival in a cardiac emergency often depends on whether someone nearby is prepared to act.
@HamlinIsland's testimony makes that clear: every child deserves the same chance he had.
As Congress considers the FY27 budget, join Damar in urging lawmakers to fully fund the HEARTS Act.
Act now: https://t.co/2cn5RjaDOt
During CPR & AED Awareness Week, we’re reminding Congress that passing the HEARTS Act was only the first step. Now lawmakers must fully fund it.
As the Senate considers the FY27 Labor-HHS bill, they must ensure schools are ready to respond to a cardiac emergency.

The decisions being made now in Congress, state legislatures and Medicaid agencies will determine if people are able to afford their health coverage, or lose access to care altogether.
Policymakers should act now to protect and expand access to affordable coverage, strengthen Medicaid and keep care within reach for millions.

New @CDCgov data signal potential health coverage losses — putting access to care at risk for millions across the country.
When people lose coverage, they delay care and face worse health outcomes. Read our statement from @NancyatHeart: https://t.co/KsjUC94fsY
As we approach 80 years of school meals, we face a clear question: what’s working—and what’s at risk?
Decisions now will shape the future for millions of children. Join me in urging Congress to protect healthy school meals: https://t.co/PRbvWqsEvU

Moving more is one of the best ways to improve health and reduce the risk of chronic disease, yet most people do not get enough physical activity. The BUILD America 250 Act is an important opportunity to make it easier, safer and more accessible for people to be active in their daily lives by improving access to walking, biking and other forms of active transportation.
When people can get to where they need to go safely, the benefits are clear. This week, the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee advanced legislation which would renew federal transportation programs and investments that shape community health and economic development. This historic resolution marks a turning point for global stroke care. Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in the U.S. and globally, and with this framework, we can prevent more strokes, expand access to treatment and improve recovery. #StrokeMonth
Today health leaders adopted a @WHO resolution focused on strengthening efforts on #stroke prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and healthcare systems.
It is a moment to celebrate the efforts of stroke advocates around the world- now we turn our effort to implementation.
This week in Washington, D.C., we brought together members of Congress, staff and key stakeholders for the Future of Health Tech reception to accelerate collaboration where science, technology, and policy meet. Our shared focus is clear: advancing healthy lives for all, powered by wearable and digital health tools.
When grounded in science and used responsibly, these innovations can keep people engaged in their health and enable earlier, more effective care. @American_Heart is proud to work alongside @Apple to strengthen the evidence base, put people at the center of innovation, and drive better health outcomes nationwide.
As @American_Heart National Senior Vice President of Corporate and Marketing Communications, Greg Donaldson leads with clarity and heart, always keeping our mission and the people we serve at the center. His passion and expertise strengthen our brand, uphold public trust, and ensure our work reflects both scientific rigor and deep compassion.

Big Tobacco continues to advocate for policies that harm health and increase profits. Flavored tobacco products play a well-documented role in youth initiation and nicotine addiction.

Strong retailer standards for SNAP can support progress, but they are not enough on their own. Congress can put health first by undoing cuts to SNAP in the farm bill and advancing policies that make healthy food more accessible and affordable.
What’s on store shelves matters — especially for individuals and families who rely on SNAP. @USDA’s final rule updating retailer stocking standards for SNAP is an important step to promote greater access to nutritious foods, but more action is needed for lasting progress.
