So NYT reports that Third Way is spending $15-million to discredit democratic socialism ahead of the presidential elections. “Their fear: Dr. El-Sayed was paving a path for a progressive to seize the party’s presidential nomination in 2028 — and then go on to lose the general election.”

Except that is not their real fear. Their real fear is that the left will go on to *win* the general election, and, like Mamdani in NYC, prove that the left can govern. They are willing to throw the general election to Republicans by smearing the left and dividing and demoralizing the Dem base to avoid that outcome.

How do we know they are willing gamble in this way? Because that's how Trump won the first time.

In light of this spending, I don’t know how anyone would presume that if Abdul wins, it wouldn’t be by a fairly thin margin.

I have no idea what the outcome will be. What I know is that money typically buys elections, and the Dem establishment is the GOAT at buying primaries.

If Abdul wins by any margin, it’s an historic feat. Hell, the fact that he’s even competitive at all is a shocking feat!

The signal is loud and clear: The Trump administration is plotting its next electoral coup — this time, in Brazil. Marco Rubio and his thugs are running wild across the continent. It is our responsibility, as US American allies of the Brazilian people, to stop them.

In this photograph, PM Mark Carney is touring the Government Operations Centre - the nerve centre that leads the “integrated federal response to all-hazard events of a national interest.”

The workforce there has been cut in half thanks to Carney’s public service cuts, from 100 to just 50 workers.

In other words, to advance major projects “in the national interest” (like pipelines and military hardware), the PM has slashed the number of public sector workers who coordinate the response to emergencies “of a national interest”.

As @SharonDPSAC of @psac_afpc says,

“Gutting it by almost half puts people across the country at risk, including frontline workers who are battling wildfires, supporting evacuations and risking their lives.”
