@DrMcFillin I wanted to respond to Mr Ruffalos post but resisted because I wasn’t sure I could do it without being so rude I looked petty …. But omg it’s amazing to see how far down the rabbit hole people will go rather than stepping back and looking with fresh eyes
@EricJZeitler@DoctorPerin This mirrors my experience - I actually find the difference between 4 and 5 disproportionately stark compared with 3 to 4 …..
At 80 some yrs his experience is too large to quantify, I believe next year will be his last visiting the uk - delivering workshops- catch him while you can 🙏
2 days wonderfully spent with the brilliant Dr R Erskine. Science and methods of relational therapy. Not just the relationship, the careful and deliberate relational presence of a therapist attuned to the clients experience - allowing script to be re written and real healing
@PluralPractice@AngelGabriel533 I really enjoyed it - especially the celebration of the grey areas we (therapists) spend our time navigating- a welcome balm to the reactionary responses the less thoughtful often demand I fall in line with - it’s not black and white it’s grey
@drockerr @MarkLRuffalo But surely the diagnosis disempowers the individual experience- they didn’t catch bpd from walking down the street - it’s a false hope - depth and understanding matter
@famm321@SarahFelton9@mickcooper77 Barring is diff to DBS. whilst only effects employment is effective in cases of disrepute etc,
It's about having an independent way of upholding agreed expectations
@aclientfirst@anidelaprida@drpeterblundell@storiesmidlife @MindworksU @mickcooper77 Ok - so by protecting titles MBS standards are upheld or you lose right to practice as counsellor or psychotherapist?
Sounds a positive option to me .....
Just the whole dual role minefield to negotiate then ....
@aclientfirst@anidelaprida@drpeterblundell@storiesmidlife @MindworksU @mickcooper77 If the PSA were happy to accept the responsibility and the systems built in -that would be great 🙌
I was only aware of their role in being the gatekeeper of a register which had specific entry requirements
I'm just advocating for this level of client protection to be built in
@SarahFelton9@mickcooper77 Personally I think the Harold Shipman argument is poor.
Safeguarding in regulated proffesion such as teaching removes many many harmful teachers from the system- preventing repeated harm.
Without the regulation there would be a sig increase in incidents of harm.
@lawyerwritermom @ScapegoatAbuse From my clinical obs. It seems to me they dont always have a strong enough sense of self as they are brought up to serve the narc.
Imo more likely verge towards something that presents as c- ptsd
