Good conversation with @Keir_Starmer in Downing Street. We agree on the importance of increasing defence investment, stepping up defence production & strong support for Ukraine
At the #NATOSummit next week, Allies will show how they are delivering
Great to preview next week's #NATOsummit in Ankara today at the #NATO Parliamentary Summit in Istanbul
The Summit will be all about delivering on our promises
Your commitment & continued support is essential in making sure we deliver on our priorities, for our shared security
At the #NATOsummit in Ankara, Allies will also reaffirm their unwavering support for Ukraine 🇺🇦
Ukraine has shown that they won’t be deterred by Russia’s aggression.
#NATO will continue to show that we won’t be either
Cash is crucial, but you cannot stop a missile or a tank with a dollar or a euro.
We need to turn the cash into combat-ready capabilities, and fast. This is another top priority for the #NATOsummit in Ankara
Defence investment is a top priority for the upcoming #NATOsummit in Ankara
We need to spend more & better so that we can defend every inch of Allied territory, today & in the future
Allies are really stepping up. Over the last decade, European Allies & Canada have spent an extra 1.2 trillion US dollars on defence. In 2025 alone, they increased their defence investment by nearly 20%
.@SecGenNATO met with @POTUS in Washington D.C. 🇺🇲 to prepare for the #NATOsummit in July.
He highlighted how Canada and European Allies are stepping up, spending almost 20% more in defence in 2025 than they did the year before.

NATO has long-standing media accreditation procedures for major events. For summits and ministerial meetings held outside NATO Headquarters, NATO relies on the host nation to provide assessments on journalists from their country to ensure access to the meeting site. We are in contact with Turkish authorities on accreditation for the NATO Summit in Ankara. It is very important for NATO that media can attend major events in person

Constructive meetings today with #NATO Defence Ministers & during the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.
With the #NATOsummit only three weeks away, we discussed final preparations and the progress on the commitments made in The Hague last year
We made good progress during our last meeting of #NATO Defence Ministers before the #NATOsummit in Ankara
There’s strong commitment to get defence spending to 5%. Some Allies will even get there this year
So European Allies & Canada are really stepping up with record increases last year and more to come in 2026
