During WWII, Water Tender 2nd Class Elmer Bigelow gave his life to save USS Fletcher and his shipmates after an enemy shell ignited a fire aboard the ship. For his courage and sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. USS Bigelow was commissioned in his honor.

Meet Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Dan Kyser, assigned to Naval Air Station Patuxent River. During Sail250 Maryland and Airshow Baltimore, he provided critical security support ensuring attendees, participants and military assets were protected throughout the events.
