✈️🇬🇧 Earlier this week, two of our clergy visited @rafboulmer following our signing of the Armed Forces Covenant in September (https://t.co/sPj18uktd1). Ruth & Lee toured the base, met RAF personnel, and spent time learning how we can further support the Armed Forces community.
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. 🕯️🟣 This year’s theme, ‘Bridging Generations’, reminds us to ensure survivors’ stories are passed down from generation to generation. Find out how the day is being commemorated across Newcastle: https://t.co/BYzSoSZlsf @NewcastleCC
Here are two of the four Ursula Clark photos chosen for the Shell Guide to Northumberland (1969).
Bessie Surtees House and @nclcathedral were last-minute inclusions requested by its author Thomas Sharp (1901-1978).

The hunt is on to find the Nation's Favourite Stained Glass window. 12 finalists, you decide.
In the afternoon Y4 went to Newcastle #Cathedral where they took part in an eco-Christingle service where they planted seeds, sang songs and lit candles. Three of our children helped to lead the service by doing readings @NCEA_Trust
Our worship council had a brilliant time at the Newcastle Cathedral Christingle Service this week. The children even had the chance to read at the service and were fantastic ambassadors of our school. 😀👏👏 #inquisitivethinkers#challengeseekers#kindhearts
Our next finalist and it is a remarkable story.
Travelling North to @nclcathedral for the so-called ‘Chemist’s Window’, #DivineLight.
Dedicated to Joseph Garnet, it may appear unremarkable at first glance, but a remarkable story lies behind it.
Garnet, a chemist with a shop on a nearby street called Garnet, a chemist with a shop on a nearby street called Side, was a devoted member of St Nicholas’s Church (now Newcastle Cathedral). He passed away in 1861, and only after his death did the full extent of his quiet philanthropy become known. Garnet had used his time and resources to help many in need, and in recognition of his selflessness his friends – who had worshipped at St Nicholas’s alongside him – raised funds for a window in his memory.

Very sorry to have missed this! We're afraid it'll be some time... We have plans in active discussion re: the conservation work – a complex project involving multiple organisations. Once that's complete, we'll be able to review the next steps. If you're not already subscribed to our newsletter, subscribers will be among the first to hear: https://t.co/xoc1sLK37E
🌟 Join us this Sunday, 18 Jan at 4pm for our Epiphany Procession! 🎶 The clergy and Choir will journey from the East End, recalling the Magi's path, celebrating the revelation of Christ to the world with readings, choral music & carols. Discover more at https://t.co/lnpEXMRvMj
@LastLegsFC It’s a question we get – unsurprisingly – quite often! Cathedrals are very good at making the most of their trees... In previous years, we've repurposed the wood for our Easter cross!🙂
Today is #HeritageTreasures Day! 🎉 We’re delighted to share the news that our Chemist’s Window has made the Top 12 in @engcathedrals' vote for England’s favourite cathedral stained glass. Modest in appearance, it conveys a powerful message https://t.co/5Ywk1JVcWJ 📷 @fotofacade
