Iโve always had this stance. Working is not my problem as far as I get value for my work and I live the lifestyle i want.
Sadly, Nigeria does not pay for value
Nobody claps for a man while he is building. His family doubts him and friends disappear. Then one year, results speak and everyone acts like they believed in him. Crazyyy.
And not just books alone, go outside, meet people smarter than you, donโt feel timid and see them as oppressors.
Have uncomfortable conversations, learn new skills, attend events, travel if you can afford it, start from neighboring states. Ask questions like maad, be curious about the world and your environment.
Learn how things work, learn how money works, learn how people think, learn how systems are built, learn how to communicate, learn how to solve problems.
Too many people are intellectually stagnant, waiting for the next trending topic, celebrity drama, or the big X gist to occupy their minds for a few hours/days before moving on to the next distraction.
Your mind is too valuable to be fed exclusively on outrage, controversies, gossip, and recycled opinions.
Read widely, think deeply, challenge your assumptions, build competence, develop interests beyond social media.
The world belongs to people who are constantly learning, adapting, and evolving.
Donโt let your entire personality become a collection of tweets, memes, and other peopleโs opinions. Become a person of substance, your future self will thank you for it.
There are two tailoring brands even in sleep, you will never see me patronize
1. Gave one, fabric since February last year, I'm asking for my fabric back for the last two weeks
2. Made expensive suit with one, they have no proof of whether I received one or not
I currently encourage my community to avoid them.
For now, this is in private conversations. One day, I'll go public with their brand name
They said we should patronise small businesses, but I just learned all over again that familiarity breeds contempt.
I gave the laundry man beside my house 3 sets of senator wears, 1 shirt and 1 trouser to iron; just to iron.
Over 2 weeks later, I went there last night and he said heโs not done yet.
For over two weeks, he did not take my clothes as priority waiting for light to iron them.
But he will charge me standard laundry rates without considering weโre neighbours.
The tailor beside him: I gave him cap material to sew last Saturday. He promised to deliver in 2-3 days; I told him I needed it 2 days ago. When I went last night, he acted surprised and had forgotten I gave him something to sew; he wasnโt doing anything and was just sitting outside.
Anyway, not again! I know what to do.
