At 26, Kimberly started having seizures and debilitating anxiety with no warning and no clear cause. When a second brain surgery wasn't a safe option, her doctors suggested the RNS® System instead. Now she logs her seizure activity with a simple magnet swipe, giving her physician a clearer picture of what's happening in her brain. "We're learning about them together," she says, instead of her having to explain it all on her own. Kimberly's back to volunteering with UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital and the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California, with hopes of returning to teaching.

*Every person's seizures are different and individual results will vary.
Some heroes have four legs and a wagging tail. Today we're celebrating the dogs who keep us company, get us moving and somehow always know when we need them most. For many people managing epilepsy, that bond runs even deeper. Seizure response dogs offer comfort, alertness and a sense of security that's hard to put into words. However your dog shows up for you, we hope you give them an extra treat today.

For Kathleen, the hardest part wasn't the seizures themselves. It was the constant wondering about when the next one would hit.
That changed with the RNS® System. In her words, she finally feels more at peace and can live her life without that worry hanging over her. Fewer seizures. Freedom she'd been missing. More of the moments that actually matter.
