As 4th of July celebrations take place, a reminder from NDOT and @NevadaForestry that small actions can prevent fires:
- Secure trailer chains
- Avoid parking on dry grass
- Carry a fire extinguisher
- Never throw cigarettes from vehicles

Twenty miles outside of Elko, concrete is being poured to replace aging bridges on State Route 229.

Watch this inside video as we build temporary bridges and divert the river to construct new bridges to continue safe roadway access for residents and agriculture that rely on it.

The Interstate Hwy System was founded on 6/29/1956, when Pres. Eisenhower signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act.
NV became part of that history when a new section of interstate in Lovelock was finished, eliminating the last I-80 traffic signal between the Pacific & Atlantic coasts.

#TrafficAlert Dayton, NV. US50 at Segale Rd is closed in both directions due to a Fatal Crash. This closure is expected to last two to four hours.

The Highway Patrol is on-scene investigating a multi-vehicle crash involving a Semi and two other vehicles. There is one confirmed fatality, and Care Flight has transported at least one patient to a local area hospital.

Traffic is being diverted away from the crash scene. Please avoid the area.

Through the end of May, 140 lives have been lost on NV roads, including 41 pedestrians and 19 people who were not wearing a seatbelt.
