🆕 Earlier this year, @joannastern and I reported on how thieves stole iPhones and their passcodes to devastating effect. Today, Apple announced Stolen Device Protection, a new iOS 17.3 beta feature that aims to protect against those crimes. Here’s how: https://t.co/zhPikafmEd
Apple’s new Siri AI isn’t whiz-bang tech, and it doesn’t have to be, writes @nicnguyen. Its secret weapon is its familiarity. 🔗 https://t.co/aYIroa67hx
And more of my thoughts on Siri’s brain transplant from #wwdc
In a post-ChatGPT world, Siri AI feels basic. But to win people over, it doesn’t need to be powerful—just available and easy to use. Gift link: https://t.co/J83q2YEhQH
Walking straight up a mountain just got easier, says @nicnguyen Here’s her take on the $2,000 Hypershell X Ultra S bionic leg boosters. 🔗 https://t.co/64sPJAb7jv
I tried bionic legs and e-hiked up a mountain—just the latest example of physical AI entering the real world.
The exoskeleton pushes and pulls on your legs, using AI-enabled software to detect movement and deliver the appropriate amount of power. I felt like a complete dork wearing it, and can only imagine the Strava uproar when these devices become more mainstream.

I'm sick of screens, which is why I wear an Oura 99% of the time and a smartwatch 10% of the time.

👩🏻💻 I vibecoded a dashboard to monitor my own personal situation and only lost my mind twice!!
This week's column is on the highs and lows of *not* coding with Lovable, Replit + Claude Code. I made a personal dashboard and the app of my dreams.
Yes, my dream app is an early-aughts RSS reader that ranks stories based on relevance to my beat. (RIP Google Reader + Digg)
No, I will not be sharing it because I am not smart enough to scale.
Relatedly, plz do not share feedback on my app. I already have a long list of new features and bug fixes and can not possibly take on more lol
