If you think that the FA actually cares about our children, then why would they decide that it wasn't in the public interest to disclose the cancer risks?
"'CANCER COVER-UP' Sport and health officials agreed not to go public on cancer concerns linked to artificial 3G pitches
A Freedom of Information request found that a series of meetings were held to discuss the dangers of coming into contact with synthetic turf
SPORT and health bosses have decided not to warn players about cancer concerns over 3G artificial pitches.
A Freedom of Information request found that a series of meetings were held to discuss the dangers of coming into contact with synthetic turf.
But Sport England, Public Health England and the Department of Health agreed not to highlight the cancer risk.
It was slammed by Nigel Maguire, 54. He lost son Lewis, 20, to Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March after he spent five years training on artificial turf.
Nigel, from Darlington, said: “The fact they have had these meetings shows there is growing concern.”
A report last year told of the risks of artificial pitches, made from shredded car tyres containing toxic chemicals."

"Sport chiefs fail to warn players of 3G pitch cancer risk
The Government and country’s sports authorities have failed to properly warn millions of footballers and rugby players - including children - to limit their exposure to artificial grass pitches containing cancer-causing chemicals, an investigation by The Daily Telegraph has found.
Those responsible for the wellbeing of both recreational and professional players have also failed to ensure so-called ‘third generation’ (3G) facilities comply with regulations governing toxic substances that come into contact with humans, despite having promised to do so."

What logic do U.S. schools & cities cite to justify continuing to install crumb rubber infilled artificial turfs given the fact that, due to concerns over human exposure to the microplastic pollution, the European Union enacted a ban on this is 2023??

🚰 🚨
Santa Clara County, California’s water has been contaminated w/chemicals linked to cancer.
Full remediation is likely impossible. Even partial remediation will cost a fortune.
Should we blanket more of the watershed w/PFAS-laced plastic turf? 🤔

@CalNatResources@TheCACoast Thanks to the #CoastalCleanUpDay volunteers spending hours picking up plastic bottles!
Prevent another 2 million plastic bottles worth of plastic from being produced by stopping ONE artificial turf field installation or renovation.

Plastic turf fields degrade into microplastics & need relatively frequent replacement.
No facility in the U.S. legitimately recycles them at scale.
Behold the massive volume of plastic waste generated by a SINGLE field. This is Saratoga High School, California.

“Turfgrass is an important component of the overall ecosystem.
Even when planted as a monoculture, it is one of nature’s best filters.
It is only second to rainforests in terms of carbon sequestration on the planet.”
🌱
Synthetic turf adds insult to injury.
All athletes prefer well-managed natural grass fields.
THAT is what our cities & schools should be providing.
THAT is what youth sports organization families should be asking the board/council for.

The "forever chemicals" known as PFAS are linked to cancer, reproductive problems, and weakened childhood immunity. Do you live close to one of more than 7,000 polluted sites? https://t.co/ldLhUqZX53
