On train this evening after picking son up from table tennis, bunch of lads laughing & trying to get off the train to get attention of driver. Doors shut so knocking on his cab door. No response.

Asked them what was up & lad tells me they’re going to London but they’d found this bag on train seat & wanted to hand it in. They hadn’t looked in it, just wanted to do the right thing.

We were getting off next stop, so I offered to take it to driver in his cab. Looked in bag, laptop, handbag, cards, more things. You name it, a persons whole life in this bag..

I went & told the lads “well done!” & was met by five of the biggest smiles you could see. “Make sure they get it back”. A bit of faith in young men restored. My lad really keen we get hold of the driver. More faith restored.

Talked to him the cab, handed it in, he told me the procedure & what would happen.

I’d taken the lady’s details but there’s no phone number. Contacted my bank as she was also a member to pass a message on. Can’t do that. Data protection. Tried the police 101. Impossible.

Linked In. Yes! Found her & messaged. Hopefully she’ll see it soon. Will update but so impressed with those lads & the reaction of my son. More of this!

@transport_wale first trip on TfW Cambrian Line. I usually travel on @AvantiWestCoast from MKC. Your 158 class train has been on time from BHI at 10:08 & all your staff have been excellent. However, why is your in-train destination info wrong for passengers travelling to Barmouth

My wife & I had discussed taking this example to Trading Standards, but I prefer to spread the word about the current JLP approach here. Nigel

@JohnLewisRetail on page 83 of the August @waitrose Food Magazine there is an offer of 4 Le Creuset Blue Ramekins for £10. However when I went on-line to buy them, they were £15. A very helpful customer service lady did her best to get the price changed, but management said no!

@JohnLewisRetail Paul, Your excuses are irrelevant! They only make me more than "disappointed" in the current JLP management approach to customers! I have taught entrepreneurship students for years how vital it is to ensure excellent customer relations & this is an example of how not to do it!
