@FruellaDeBrille You can have your views on surrogacy but would it be different if the child was conceived naturally? His wife is 48 (was 44 at the time) and they had been trying for several years
@ScarletAstrorum When I was pregnant we didn't have NIPT, but you still had to consent to the triple test. At the time I had it incase it showed Edwards or pataue. But I have since seen how difficult DS can be to live with.
@BeardedBrownMa1@NitaMankoo It sounds like they are taking a historically legitimate order and either twisting it into something akin to gang culture (?) Or just using it as a cover.
@BeardedBrownMa1@NitaMankoo It seems to me (from what I have read last few days) this nihang "order" may just be a convenient excuse for violent young men to carry weapons. I believe there is an increasing issue in parts of India but I suspect western culture has no small part to play.
@Stephenmevans1 It's doesn't seem to be an official or central part of Sikhism in this country. Nihang are supposed to wear very specific dress and live in a vert specific way, almost like warrior monks. Instead young men like Digwa wear a blue turban, carry extra knives and use it for posturing
@Stephenmevans1 Is there any real evidence that that 'order' and his membership was legitimate? He was banned from temple. From what I have read that order is historically significant but recently has become a way for violent young men to justify their actions.
@Bubblejet I am not defending the handcuffing I am clarifying the timeline and what was known and not known.
Generally though, suspects can both require an ambulance, and need to be handcuffed. They are not mutually exclusive.
@credealjunkie You could just restrict her apps to just WhatsApp?
I don't see how she can respond under supervision without you reading the messages? And if the friends know you are in the group....they aren't going to use it.
I've not really had any reason to comment on the death of Henry Nowak, until I had a conversation with a local retired policeman that changed my view of the incident.
He gave me permission to share this.
He's a reform voter. He voted for brexit. I've found him to be casually racist at times. So hold that in mind while you read this:
He said he had put handcuffs on a thousand people and most would say absolutely anything to get you to take them off.
He said he must have heard hundreds of people in handcuffs say that they were injured and even dying.
Only one was actually injured, and yes, they were dying.
Exactly like Henry Nowak, they were wearing a dark top at night and bleeding abdominally both internally and externally.
Exactly like with Henry Nowak, he and a fellow officer called for emergency support and started first aid as soon as they knew there was a problem.
Exactly like with Henry Nowak the first aid wasn't enough and the young man died.
Unlike Henry Nowak, that young man was both a perpetrator of knife violence and a victim of it. His assailant also needed emergency care.
The policeman telling me all this stepped down from active duty two weeks later due to 'stress' and retired months later.
I knew about the death and the stress years ago, but didn't know about the details until yesterday.
He said he still has nightmares about pulling up the young man's shirt to see the sucking bubbling knife wound.
When he started talking to me yesterday, I thought he was going to complain about two tier policing and wokeness and reverse discrimination, but instead we just cried a lot.
I'm crying again as I write this too.
Sometimes a tragedy is just a tragedy, and that's all it is.
@LucyGoBag Carbon footprint is calculations done by spreadsheet, based on typical values, averages and assumptions. It's a guide.
The race to net zero, while for good reasons, is about making a spreadsheet balance with incremental gains.
@BBCNews 100% planned c-sections. So teams are reluctant to try risky or difficult vaginal deliveries because people want safety....hence move to c-section as soon as it is not straight forward.
MW then lose skills and confidence as they don't get to use them.
My general understanding of eugenics requires it to take place on a population scale and by force. I'm open to discussion to the contrary but I thought it was generally agreed upon individual family planning is not really included in this, whether or not you agree w/ the choice
@danbailz@nw_nicholas OK yeah he's a violent criminal obsessed with weapons, totally agree. So he was challenged by his community, that doesn't support your claim he was unchallenged because of his religion?
Better definition of what counts as religious exemption would help this.
@SergioPM1103@morallawwithin There is a huge difference between never being born and euthanasia.
Yes people with disabilities can have fulfilling lives, but wouldn't 99.9% wish they didn't have that disability?
@danbailz@nw_nicholas The law is actually bladed article, has a blade or is sharply pointed and capable of causing cut or piercing.
So you could have ceremonial items that are not capable of that. Similarly there are many things carrier legitimately that could do those things.
