no what fries me is in the source material, the salvatores were neither a) american nor b) from that time period. idk about the other franchises, but TVD the tv show had no reason to tag in the confederacy besides hating black people 😭

@AjIrons @coralinesportal It should be obvious that the problem is that a showrunners prejudiced bias leaked into the script which painted certain characters in a negative light. If you like Damon that's fine but lets just be honest about how horrible this makes his character look and call it a day.

Vampire media constantly making one of their mains a confederate soldier has never sat right with me. It's so weird but somehow the vampire diaries, true blood and twilight all have a confederate soldier vampire hanging around like was making them a union soldier not an option?

@AjIrons @coralinesportal The fact he joined is the issue here. Family pressure at 25 doesnt make it ok that he was a confederate soldier just bc he deserted later on. If he actually cared about black ppls freedom he would have never joined or joined union forces. The showrunners racism peaked through

@ccc_chercar One of the issues with this season was how rushed it felt. They were desperate to tell the story they wanted but didn't have time to actually flush everything out and the dynamics/relationships. Also Marcel and Rebekah being one of that seasons biggest victim. Horrible writing 😭

@ccc_chercar In S5 of tvd Caroline said "bc I saw the good in Klaus" which was acknowledging that she did see the good in him and in TO she finally saw what she was hopping he would actually become when they were closer. I just think they needed more time together before this convo in TOS5

@ccc_chercar Well yeah she should have been involved more in TOs and we know why she wasn't. The only reason Alaric and Caroline make sense is because of the school they run together but Matt making a cameo was so useless and lead to nothing of importance 💀
