Oklahoma's Kid Governor® is a statewide civics program for 5th graders, led by @OklaChildAdv and created by @ctdemocracyctr

Last year, @OklaChildAdv partnered with @CTDemocracyCtr bring the award-winning @KidGovernor civics program to Oklahoma, and Inasmuch Foundation leaders had the opportunity to hear more about this innovative program at the 2nd Annual Kid Governor Reception on October 3.

@OklaChildAdv @CTDemocracyCtr @KidGovernor As part of this program, 5th graders across the state nominate candidates for @OKKidGovernor and vote in a statewide election. Meanwhile, teachers use provided lesson plans to help students explore the role of state government and the importance of civic participation.

@OklaChildAdv @CTDemocracyCtr @KidGovernor @OKKidGovernor @OKKidGovernor candidates are tasked with identifying issues that impact their communities and crafting platforms to address those issues. The student who receives the most votes serves a one-year term as Oklahoma's Kid Governor.
