1940s–1950s:
Watching moments like this today reminds us why old cartoons are still unmatched. They didn’t chase perfection; they chased character. And that’s why Tom and Jerry remain timeless — bold, expressive, and pure animation gold ✨

Animators filmed real actors performing the scenes, then drew the characters based on their movements. I want to share as much of that hard work as possible. The catch? Most of it is over 60 years old.

Walt Disney | Mickey Mouse Voice | Side By Side Comparison
On November 1, 1940, Walt Disney released the short Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip. Though unremarkable at the time, it has since gained historical significance: Walt was filmed recording his Mickey Mouse lines—one of the only times he was captured voicing the character on camera—with Billy Bletcher (the voice of Pete) alongside him.
I've synced the original recording session with the finished short for a side-by-side comparison, plus footage of sound effects head Jimmy MacDonald and his team at work. Enjoy!

Directed by the legendary Satoshi Kon, this groundbreaking anime masterpiece blurs the line between dreams and reality.
One of its most iconic and unforgettable sequences is the hypnotic dream parade — a spectacular explosion of fantasy invading the waking world.
