I-80 west between 72 and 84 has the two inside lanes closed for a vehicle fire.

I-80 east has the inside lane closed between 84 and 72 for the same fire.

🚨 Intersection Takeover... Taken Over by Deputies 🚨

On Sunday morning, the DCSO responded to reports of an intersection takeover at 72nd & McKinley Street in northern Douglas County. A black Dodge Challenger was doing donuts in the middle of the intersection while other people attempted to block traffic to allow this activity.

Deputies with the Community Action Team and Patrol arrived and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, 20-year-old Aiden Hajek, fled southbound on 72nd Street, fishtailing around the corner. Hajek was apprehended a short distance later.

Hajek was arrested for:
✅ Willful reckless driving
✅ Flight to avoid arrest

Hajek has one prior conviction for fleeing law enforcement, so that makes this one a felony. 🚔

Intersection takeovers and other reckless driving are not tolerated. There is zero regard for safety, and this behavior endangers lives and disrupts our community.

The DSCO would like to thank the Nebraska State Patrol and the Omaha Police Department for their assistance. The working relationship between agencies has never been stronger. 💪

While sitting on the side of the interstate waiting for a tow truck, it’s obvious that people need a reminder of Nebraska’s move over law.

It’s very simple…move over one lane for stopped vehicles on the interstate, including emergency vehicles!

Just because it’s one of the first nice days of the year and you can ride your motorcycle doesn’t mean you can go 94 on the interstate and not expect to be ticketed.

One has to ask themselves if driving your Audi so fast and so reckless that you rear end a semi and cause this much damage to both vehicles is worth it.

We are very fortunate no one was killed in this high speed crash on the interstate.

At 11:39 a.m., Omaha Fire was called to I-80 and 84th Street for a car that rear ended a semi. The female occupant was awake, alert and talking with police on scene. M61 transported to the Berg Code 2 (serious) Trauma. OPD called in a secondary crash in the eastbound lanes.

I-80 westbound at the Missouri River has the left two lanes blocked for an overturned trailer.

Traffic is backed up into Council Bluffs, use I-29 to 480 as an alternate route in to Nebraska.

You're lucky he stopped. GTI's and Golf R's (this looks look like a 7 or 7.5 gen model) are governed anywhere between 155-167 mph depending on yr/tuning)
