It's hard to believe Crimson was just smaller than this squash! When he first arrived, 3-week-old Crimson was emaciated and unable to stand due to injuries to his back leg.

He still has a long road of recovery ahead, but he’s come a long way. ❤️

Last week we celebrated TWO very special birthdays on Siamang Island! Sid turned 10, and Raya is now 3! 🎂

The clear birthday favorite? Frozen sweet potato & banana cakes 🍠🍌 (the video says it all 😋).

Brother bonding, bear-style 🐻🐻 Did you know? Brown bears communicate by “gaping” or opening their jaw right in another bear’s face. It might look intense to us, but they use these behaviors to communicate their intentions and strengthen their bond. 💞

Clover's keepers have been getting creative to help her build strength and confidence. They recently filled an additional holding space with sand, and as you can see from the footage, Clover wasted no time turning it into her own racetrack 🏁

Look who Janette spotted on her heron patrol — an adorable group of fledglings hanging out in downtown Oakland!

We’re also celebrating 7 amazing years of the black-crowned night heron as Oakland’s official bird! We are here to help them flourish in their urban habitat.

Our wolf pack just turned 7! 🐺🎉

To celebrate, they enjoyed their favorite part of their carnivorous diet: animal carcasses! To make their birthday extra special, their keepers hid their food amongst a travel-themed array of decorations. 🗺️

The birthday menu? Whole chickens!

Recently, Pagi sun bear’s keepers found a mass on the inside of her leg. With the help of specialists, our vet team was able to surgically remove the mass and we are happy to report that Pagi is now cancer-free!
