That car registered in your name and parked in your driveway and that you pay for every month (via car note) is NOT yours. It belongs to the state it's registered in. It's why you have state plates on the car. That's the state's car (property) that you pay for and take care of.

If you don't pay the annual tax (registration fee) within six months after expiration date, the state takes its property from you.

This is information you have to figure out on your own. It's not taught to you in school (K-12), even in law school.

More importantly, knowing this information, NEVER die over a car. You can always get another car, but not another life.

Let your child be bored

Proper bored

Not five minutes without YouTube bored

I mean let them sit there with no little glowing rectangle saving them every time their brain gets quiet

Do it for one week and watch what happens

But I’m warning you now, the first few days are going to be hell

They’ll moan

They’ll whinge

They’ll act like you’ve ruined their whole life because you took away Minecraft and some weird loud cartoon with a grown man screaming every three seconds

That’s not your child being difficult

That’s the dopamine screaming

That’s the little algorithm goblin in their brain having a tantrum because it’s not getting fed

Do not fold

Because after a few days, something starts coming back

They start playing again

They start making things again

They start talking properly

They start noticing the room

They start using their imagination instead of having it outsourced to a screen

And by the end of the week, you’ll start seeing your actual child again

Not the overstimulated, snappy, half-listening, screen-hungry version

But here’s the bit parents don’t want to hear

You can’t take their screen away while you’re sat there glued to yours like a zombie

Because they’re watching you

So if you want them present, stop acting possessed by your phone
