PDP JOINS AN ALL-OPPOSITION MOVE TO DEFEAT THE APC
The Peoples Democratic Party, @OfficialPDPNig as a responsible opposition party, has endorsed the G-100 (a group of 100 opposition stalwarts) driven process of creating an all-opposition front to challenge the incumbent APC candidate in the 2027 general elections.
This decision is informed by the wailings of Nigerians groaning under the repressive Bola Tinubu APC-led Federal Government, and the compelling need to join forces with other credible political forces in search of the country's redemption.
According to our National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN, "Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism. Any result birthed by a process midwifed by these virtues will certainly offer Nigerians a credible leadership capable of alleviating the skyrocketing poverty and rising insecurity in the country."
This new move aligns with our earlier stated disposition of working with like-minded political parties and organisations desirous of salvaging the country from the many vices orchestrated by the ruling APC.
Our participation at the first meeting of the G-100 on 31st August, 2026 is a further indication of our preparedness to contribute our quota in the quest for an all-opposition platform that will take power from the incumbent and rebuild Nigeria for the good of all Nigerians.

@OfficialPDPNig MOURNS DEATH OF CHIEF DAN ORBIH
The National Chairman of the Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of a former National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, following the announcement of his demise by his family.
He said: “The late Chief Dan Orbih held various positions in our great party, contributing significantly in each of those positions. We deeply mourn his death.”
“We pray that Almighty God grants him eternal rest and gives his family, friends, and associates the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss.”

*PDP Disassociates self from purported Governorship Election Campaign Committee In Abia State*
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states that it has not constituted or inaugurated its 2027 Governorship Election Campaign Council in Abia State as reported in a section of the media.
The Abia State Chapter urges the public to disregard any misleading report claiming that the party has inaugurated its governorship campaign council in the State.
For clarity, the authentic opposition-driven PDP Abia Governorship candidate as duly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2026 and the Constitution of the PDP remains Dr. Anthony Iheanyichukwu Ibeabuchi.
The Abia State Chapter therefore urges Nigerians, especially members and supporters of the PDP in Abia State to disregard the said report as the party has not inaugurated any governorship campaign council in the State.
The Party will in due course announce its Governorship Campaign Council which will coordinate the activities and campaigns of the Pdp in the state

Bamanga Tukur: A Statesman Bids Farewell
The entire Peoples Democratic Party family in Nigeria and the diaspora received with deep sadness the news of the demise of their former National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
In his lifetime, Alhaji Tukur played prominent roles in shaping policies and projects in various sectors of the Nigerian economy, particularly ports administration, international trade and industries. He was a man of many parts whose political profile was as rich as his professional record. He served as Governor of the old Gongola State, in addition to holding several other high-ranking political and public offices.
His death at the age of 90, though painful to us, his political family, is viewed by us as a statesman’s farewell. During our last interaction with him a few months ago, he specifically reiterated his unflinching belief in the PDP as the truly national party capable of providing solutions to Nigeria’s challenges and charged our National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, SAN, to keep the flag of the party flying.
We join his many admirers to mourn his passing and condole with his family.

PDP Pays Condolence Visit to Tukur’s Family, Lamido and Governor
Earlier today, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party paid condolence visits to the family of our late former National Chairman, Alh. (Dr.) Bamanga Tukur, at the Tukur Lodge, Yola; the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, at the Lamido’s Palace; and the Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency, Ahmadu Fintiri, at the Governor’s Office, Yola.
In his message of condolence, the Chairman of the Interim National Working Committee, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, said:
“According to the Quran, every person who lives will die and go to the great beyond. So, Baba Tukur has gone the way of all mortals. We do not mourn his death because all humans will die, but we are pained by the loss of his presence and the concomitant virtues he graciously exuded all through his life, in both private and public engagements.
“Our visit is in recognition of the great legacy he left, not just in Adamawa, old Gongola and Northern Nigeria, but also the impressionable footprints he left on the Nigerian business and political landscape.
“As a party, we are deeply pained by his loss, and we are determined, now more than before, to ensure that the PDP, of which the late icon was one of its founding fathers, remains true to its ideals and is not diluted or compromised.”
In his response, Hon. Awwal Tukur, son of the late party chairman and the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, welcomed the party delegation and expressed his appreciation for the visit.
He said “I welcome you to our home, and I thank you for taking the trouble to come for this visit. For Chairman Turaki, this is his home, and I have known him as a brother. Apart from being the National Chairman, you have been a son of Baba, which is why I have called you my elder brother for over three decades.
“Baba took you as a son, and you took him as a father. Today, he is gone, but his legacy lives on. He elegantly bestrode the professional, social, economic and administrative spaces, leaving a great impact in his wake.
“I am happy that, despite all the troubles, the PDP still remains the only legacy party in this country. I say so with pride, knowing the efforts and resources expended, and the risks undertaken, to birth the party.
“I had a first-hand experience, since my late father was one of the founding fathers of the party. I am sure that, even in death, Baba will be happy to see that his party came to pay him a visit.”
At the Government House, while receiving the party delegation, the Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency, Ahmadu Fintiri, appreciated the leadership of the party for the visit.
He said “Your visit to Adamawa today to offer your condolences is one which I, on behalf of the government and people of Adamawa State, appreciate greatly. We have lost a father and a shining light, but we trust that Allah (SWT) will grant him Aljannah Firdausi and comfort all of us who are grieving.”
At the palace of the Lamido, the entourage, led by Turaki, SAN, was received by the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, who welcomed and appreciated the leadership of the party for coming to the palace to pay its condolences.
The Lamido described the deceased, Alh. (Dr.) Bamanga Tukur, who held the prestigious traditional title of Tafidan Adamawa, as a very respected son who brought honour, respect and recognition to the kingdom.
He said his death was a huge loss, the impact of which would linger for a long time. He prayed for Allah to forgive the sins of the deceased and grant him Aljannah Firdausi.
