SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS +134 OVER MILWAUKEE from Joe Duffy https://t.co/707wwLjTfR
This is another case where the records tell one story, but the price, pitching matchup and Luck Gap tell another.
TeamRankings rates Milwaukee at +5.64 in luck and San Francisco at -5.81, producing an enormous 11.45-point Luck Gap. That is the second-largest qualifying disparity on Tuesday’s schedule. The Giants are the substantially unluckier team, making them the regression side against a Brewers club whose impressive record may overstate the true difference between these teams.
At +134, San Francisco needs to win only 42.7% of the time to break even. That is a reasonable threshold considering the Giants have already beaten Milwaukee in three of five meetings this season, including Monday night’s 3-0 shutout as a home underdog.
San Francisco limited Milwaukee
to three hits and only four total baserunners in the series opener. The Brewers never advanced a runner beyond second base and were shut out for the second time in six games. Tyler Mahle worked six scoreless innings before three Giants relievers completed the shutout. (Brew Crew Ball)
Landen Roupp gives San Francisco another legitimate starting-pitching foundation. Roupp has produced a 1.29 ERA and 0.67 WHIP over his last three starts, allowing only nine hits and three earned runs across 21 innings. He has completed at least six innings in all three outings, including seven scoreless innings at Seattle and eight innings of one-run baseball against Toronto.
Roupp’s underlying skill set also matches up well at Oracle Park. He has surrendered only eight home runs in 110 innings this season and owns an extreme 2.88 ground-ball-to-fly-ball ratio. That ability to keep the ball on the ground reduces Milwaukee’s power ceiling and gives him a chance to pitch deep enough to protect San Francisco’s vulnerable middle relief.
Milwaukee starter Logan Henderson has strong overall numbers, but the matchup is not as lopsided as the moneyline suggests. Henderson has made only eight starts this season and averages approximately five innings per appearance. His road ERA is 3.93, compared with 2.25 at home, and he has surrendered three home runs over his last three starts.
That likely leaves Milwaukee needing at least four innings from its bullpen. Although the Brewers’ relief corps has been productive overall, San Francisco gets the benefit of having seen Milwaukee’s staff throughout the season series and has already scored 27 runs in five games against the Brewers.
The Giants’ recent home form is also improving. Monday’s victory gave San Francisco wins in five of its last six games at Oracle Park, despite its poor overall record. (San Francisco Chronicle) The Giants have now defeated Milwaukee in three consecutive close or competitive meetings when excluding Milwaukee’s two blowout victories earlier in the season.
There is injury risk with Casey Schmitt leaving Monday’s game, but the market already accounts for San Francisco’s lineup deficiencies. The Giants are not being asked to dominate Milwaukee—they are being offered at better than +130 at home behind a starter who has been pitching exceptionally well.
The combination of the 11.45 Luck Gap, Roupp’s dominant recent form, Milwaukee’s offensive struggles Monday, San Francisco’s improving home results and a price requiring only a 42.7% win rate makes the Giants the value side.

MARLINS +165 Phillies
This is a price-driven underdog wager, not an argument that Miami has the better starting pitcher. Zack Wheeler is having another elite season, but the question is whether Philadelphia deserves to be priced this heavily on the road. My top sim has Miami winning 50 percent of the time.
At +165, Miami needs to win only 37.7% of the time to break even. Our top advanced computer model makes the Marlins more likely to win than that, creating positive expected value. For comparison, the broader market has Miami closer to +152, so securing +165 gives us approximately 13 cents of additional line value.
Miami’s overall profile is also much closer to Philadelphia’s than the price suggests. The Marlins are 52-54 compared with the Phillies’ 57-49, and Miami owns a strong 31-23 home record. The teams have produced almost identical offensive numbers: Miami averages 4.38 runs per game, slightly more than Philadelphia’s 4.34. ESPN’s current team data also shows Miami with the superior batting average and on-base percentage.
The starting-pitching matchup clearly favors Wheeler, who is 10-2 with a 2.16 ERA. However, Tyler Phillips has been a substantially different pitcher at loanDepot park. He owns a 1.41 home ERA across 44⅔ innings, compared with a 6.23 ERA on the road. He has allowed only two home runs at home all season and has already produced five scoreless innings against Seattle and 7⅓ innings of two-run baseball at St. Louis during his recent starting work. MLB confirms Wheeler and Phillips as Monday’s starters.
Phillips does not have to match Wheeler pitch for pitch for Miami to cash at this number. He must keep the game competitive long enough to transfer it to a Marlins bullpen that has been better over the full season. Miami’s relievers have a 3.96 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, compared with Philadelphia’s 4.54 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. Among currently available relievers, Miami’s numbers improve to a 3.52 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, while Philadelphia’s available bullpen sits at 4.58 and 1.40.
There is an obvious momentum concern: Miami has lost a franchise-record 12 consecutive games. But that streak is a major reason we are receiving +165. Sunday’s loss was not another noncompetitive performance—the Marlins led San Diego 3-0 before allowing four runs in the eighth inning. Kyle Stowers doubled and homered, demonstrating that the lineup has not completely disappeared. Philadelphia, meanwhile, had lost six of eight after the All-Star break before Sunday night’s 11-4 victory.
Wheeler also does not eliminate Philadelphia’s upset risk. The Phillies lost his most recent start despite seven strong innings, and they are only 19-7 in one-run games, an excellent but difficult-to-sustain record that has helped inflate the difference between these teams’ overall records. Baseball Reference lists Philadelphia at 29-22 on the road and 37-26 against right-handed starters—solid numbers, but not numbers that make an upset close to impossible.
The Phillies are rightly favored, but +165 overstates the gap. Miami has the home field, comparable season-long offensive production, the better bullpen metrics, and a starter whose home performance has been dramatically better than his overall record indicates. Our model’s win probability clears the 37.7% break-even threshold, making MARLINS +165 the value side.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS +119 OVER WASHINGTON NATIONALS
Toronto is not the safer-looking side, but at +119, the Blue Jays are the value side. That price requires only a 45.7% win rate to break even, and several matchup indicators suggest this game is considerably closer than Washington’s better record implies.
Massive Luck Gap favors Toronto
The strongest foundation is the 11.88-game Luck Gap:
Toronto luck rating: -5.72
Washington luck rating: +6.16
Difference: 11.88 games
Under the Luck Gap methodology, Toronto is the play because it has substantially underperformed its underlying results while Washington has meaningfully overperformed. This does not guarantee immediate regression, but an 11.88-game difference is well above the required eight-game threshold and makes the underdog price particularly attractive.
The bullpen matchup strongly favors Toronto
This is the most important conventional advantage because Max Scherzer is expected to work under some restriction in his return from the injured list.
The numbers supplied show Toronto’s available bullpen with a 2.78 ERA and 1.14 WHIP, compared with Washington’s available relievers at a 4.78 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. That is a full 2.00-run ERA advantage and a 0.30 WHIP advantage for Toronto.
Independent bullpen rankings also list Toronto eighth in MLB with a 3.78 relief ERA, while Washington is 27th at 5.24. Toronto has two especially dependable leverage arms in Louis Varland, carrying a 1.04 ERA, and Tyler Rogers at 1.54. (InsidethePen)
That edge is why the full-game moneyline is more appealing than a first-five wager. Even a serviceable four-inning return from Scherzer allows Toronto to transition to the superior portion of its pitching staff.
Scherzer may be better than his ugly season line
There is no disguising Scherzer’s 2026 major-league results: 1-4 with a 10.23 ERA. However, that backward-looking ERA may overstate his present condition.
In his final rehabilitation appearance, Scherzer threw five hitless innings with seven strikeouts, allowing only one runner to reach on an error. He threw 40 of 56 pitches for strikes and reportedly satisfied Toronto’s requirements for activation. Toronto may limit his pitch count, but that is less damaging when backed by the superior bullpen. (Reuters)
Scherzer also has a major motivational and familiarity angle: he returns on his 42nd birthday to face the organization with which he won two Cy Young Awards and the 2019 World Series. That is not a statistical edge by itself, but his sharp rehab performance provides tangible evidence that the layoff may have helped him reset.
Andrew Alvarez is not a dominant favorite
Washington starter Andrew Alvarez has a respectable 4.22 ERA, but his recent form has deteriorated:
5.84 ERA over his last three appearances
4.99 home ERA
1.40 home WHIP
No quality starts this season
Seven walks over his last three appearances
He has completed more than 4⅔ innings only once in his last seven starts. That creates an early path into Washington’s weak bullpen.
The market is asking bettors to lay approximately -130 to -135 behind a starter who has recently struggled, rarely provides length and is supported by one of baseball’s lowest-ranked relief units. Current market listings have Toronto around +111 to +119, making the Blue Jays’ side preferable from a risk-versus-reward standpoint. (Action Network)
Washington’s home record is a warning sign
Washington owns the better overall record, but it is only 22-32 at Nationals Park. Its success has been heavily road-driven, with a 32-20 away record.
That distinction matters because Washington is being priced as a home favorite despite winning only about 41% of its home games. Toronto is 22-28 away, so this is not a strong road club, but Washington has not demonstrated that Nationals Park deserves a meaningful home-field premium. (Action Network)
Washington may be at a short-term emotional and offensive peak
The Nationals are coming off a dramatic 10-7 victory in which CJ Abrams and James Wood each homered twice. Washington’s offense is unquestionably dangerous, especially against Scherzer’s early-season profile.
However, that performance also exposed the weakness Toronto is positioned to attack. Matt Krook entered the ninth with a five-run lead and walked three consecutive hitters, forcing another reliever to put out the fire. Even Washington-focused coverage described the bullpen as a glaring roster hole requiring deadline reinforcement. (Federal Baseball)
Washington’s offense must again carry a disproportionately large burden because its starter may not provide length and its relief staff has repeatedly made comfortable games competitive.
Supporting head-to-head history
Toronto has won six of the last ten meetings and swept the most recent regular-season series in 2025, winning all three games by scores of:
5-2
5-3
4-2
Historical results have limited predictive power because rosters change, but they reinforce that Toronto has not been overmatched in this interleague series.
Bottom line
The obvious objection is Scherzer’s 10.23 ERA, making Toronto inappropriate as a large or premium-strength play. Nevertheless, the wager is not asking Scherzer to dominate for seven innings. It is asking him to show enough of the form displayed during his five-hitless-inning rehabilitation start to turn the game over to Toronto’s much better bullpen.
Toronto offers:
An 11.88-game Luck Gap
A break-even requirement of only 45.7% at +119
A major available-bullpen advantage
A favorable matchup against a starter with a 5.84 recent ERA
A chance to attack Washington’s 27th-ranked bullpen
A Nationals opponent that is only 22-32 at home
The play is Toronto +119, preferably full game rather than first five. Washington has the hotter offense and the more reliable starting-pitcher statistics, but Toronto’s regression profile, relief advantage and plus-money price provide the stronger betting value.

Man, I thought I like to overthink stuff. Yeah, I don't like that people add as "S" to LongHorn, Kroger, Aldi, Lidl, etc. but this is really somebody bothered too easily. I mean a popular Tex-Mex place is called The El Felix, which translated means The The Felix. It's okay.
The MLS has room to grow in a few ways, but 1 major thing sticks out:
The team naming conventions.
I’m watching a game between “San Diego FC” and “FC Dallas.”
We are not in Europe. We don’t call our soccer teams “football clubs.” Why the hell are we integrating foreign nomenclature into the top level branding of a team? It reads like we are trying to be someone else.
Beyond that, “FC Dallas” doesn’t even make sense in English. “Football Club Dallas” puts the modifier “Dallas” after the head noun “Football Club.” That is Romance language construction—grammatically common in Spanish or French, but not in English.
So not only are we using foreign terminology, we are also forcing foreign grammar into our brands.
And then the core of the issue: bucking a ubiquitous trend in all other American sports. Literally every other American team uses the same nomenclature:
City + Mascot/Nickname
The Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Red Sox, Washington Capitals…
It’s the city and a thing. It tells you where they are from and gives you some semblance of a brand to assign to the idea of the team.
“FC Dallas” gives you nothing. No imagery, no brand, just a bland technical “name” to use to refer to the team.
This is just one of the many “foreign” things about US soccer that just make it hard to get into as an American fan.
If you want to take over the American market, you have to be authentically American. The MLS simply does not present that way in its current form. If anything, they come across as wannabe Europeans.
Until the MLS manages to own its American nature, they will struggle.

NEW YORK METS +140 OVER LA DODGERS
The Mets qualify as the only 8-or-more Luck Gap play on Sunday’s card. TeamRankings rates Los Angeles at +0.30 and New York at -10.31, producing a massive 10.61-game gap. Under the system, the substantially unluckier team is the wager, making New York the clear contrarian value side.
Emmet Sheehan is difficult to justify at this price. The Dodgers right-hander is 4-7 with a 5.13 ERA, and Los Angeles has lost seven of his last nine starts. He was hammered for six earned runs, eight hits and two home runs in 5⅓ innings against Philadelphia his last time out. Sheehan has surrendered 17 home runs in 87⅔ innings, with a concerning 10.3% barrel rate, creating legitimate damage potential for a Mets lineup containing Francisco Lindor, Bo Bichette, Luis Robert Jr., Marcus Semien and Francisco Alvarez.
Sheehan’s underlying metrics are better than his ERA, but not dominant enough to justify laying approximately -156 on the road. FanGraphs lists him with a 4.50 FIP, while Statcast has allowed a .338 wOBA and an 89.4 mph average exit velocity. He has completed six innings only once in his last nine starts, which increases the likelihood that the Mets get multiple looks at the Los Angeles bullpen.
Freddy Peralta’s surface form is admittedly poor, but his advanced indicators make him a viable positive-regression candidate. Despite a 5.01 ERA, Peralta owns a 3.85 FIP and has allowed a .303 expected wOBA, compared with his actual .342 wOBA. His 87.8 mph average exit velocity and 5.4% barrel rate are both better than Sheehan’s corresponding contact numbers. That substantial ERA-to-FIP and wOBA-to-xwOBA separation indicates Peralta has pitched better than his results suggest.
This is also a classic getaway-game situational spot. The Dodgers are completing a nine-game road trip, have already secured the series and enter on a four-game winning streak. New York has lost the first two games by competitive 4-2 and 4-3 scores, including Saturday’s game in which the Mets put 10 runners on base but went only 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position. A modest improvement in situational hitting could reverse the result against the weakest Dodgers starter used in the series.
Juan Soto’s absence is a significant negative, and Peralta cannot be trusted blindly after allowing seven runs in Milwaukee. However, those concerns are fully reflected in a generous home-underdog price. The pitching matchup is much closer than the respective team records suggest, Peralta owns the stronger underlying contact profile, and the 10.61 Luck Gap supplies the primary systematic edge.
The value is NEW YORK METS.

NY METS +152 OVER LA DODGERS
This is a classic price-versus-perception play. Los Angeles is unquestionably the superior team over a full season, but the Mets do not need to be better across 162 games—they only need to win tonight, and the pitching matchup makes New York far more competitive than the +152 moneyline suggests.
The foundation is the 9.77 Luck Gap, the largest qualifying differential on Saturday’s card. TeamRankings rates the Mets at -9.90, dead last in MLB, compared with the Dodgers at -0.13. Under the Luck Gap premise, New York has experienced substantially worse results than its underlying performance would normally produce, creating potential regression value at a large underdog price.
Nolan McLean gives the Mets a legitimate chance to neutralize the Dodgers’ superior lineup. McLean owns a 3.34 ERA with 135 strikeouts in 113⅓ innings, and his recent form has been exceptional. He has surrendered only two earned runs over his last four starts, while MLB notes that he has completed at least six innings in seven of his last eight outings.
McLean’s last three starts produced a 1.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 22 strikeouts in 18 innings. Most recently, he dominated Philadelphia for six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out 10. He also already proved he can handle this Dodgers lineup, holding Los Angeles to one run and two hits over seven innings on April 14.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is elite, but the market may be overpricing his name and his complete game against the Yankees. He has allowed six earned runs twice in his last seven starts, including a loss as a massive -275 favorite against Arizona. The Dodgers also lost three of Yamamoto’s starts this season when priced at -255 or higher, showing that even his best performances do not automatically justify laying a major road price.
The bullpens are closer than the team records imply. The supplied numbers give the available Mets relievers a 3.05 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, compared with a 3.26 ERA and 1.23 WHIP for the available Dodgers bullpen. Los Angeles relievers have also been hit for a 7.50 ERA over their last three games, while the Mets bullpen has been substantially better at 4.42.
Los Angeles carries the heavier injury burden, particularly across its pitching depth. Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Brusdar Graterol, Blake Treinen and several other arms remain sidelined or limited. The Mets also have injuries, and Juan Soto’s calf soreness must be monitored after he exited Friday’s game. His absence would reduce New York’s offensive upside, so the wager is stronger if Soto returns to the lineup.
The Dodgers won Friday’s opener only 4-2, and Saturday’s matchup is a significant starting-pitching upgrade for New York. The betting market lists Los Angeles around -154 to -164, but numberFire gives the Mets a 47.34% win probability. That translates to fair odds of approximately +111, creating substantial theoretical value on New York at +152 or better.
McLean’s dominant current form, New York’s massive Luck Gap advantage, comparable available bullpens and an inflated Dodgers price make the Mets the value side. This is not a claim that New York is the better team—it is a wager that the Mets’ actual chance of winning is considerably higher than the market price implies.
Another winning night last night! Joe Duffy is 45-22 in MLB sides since April 6 +25.09 units at one-unit per bet. 27-10 sides since May 25, up 61.51units based on 4-units Wise Guy, 3 Major!
Free pick:
METS +124 DODGERS
The Mets are the correct side in the biggest Luck Gap matchup on Friday’s card. New York ranks dead last in TeamRankings’ Luck Ratings at -9.54, while Los Angeles sits at -0.50, producing a 9.04-point gap in favor of backing the substantially unluckier team.
That does not mean the Mets have been better than the Dodgers. Clearly, they have not. It means the records and public perception have created an inflated price on Los Angeles in a pitching matchup that is much closer than the teams’ overall standings suggest.
Roki Sasaki is only 3-5 with a 4.98 ERA and 1.34 WHIP, while Sean Manaea enters at 2-5 with a 4.74 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. Sasaki has been especially vulnerable away from Dodger Stadium, posting a 6.25 road ERA, 1.44 WHIP and .346 opponent on-base percentage. He has also allowed 19 home runs in 86⅔ innings, including five over his last three starts.
Los Angeles has won Sasaki’s last three outings, but that disguises a 5.55 ERA over his last five starts and an average of only 4⅔ innings per appearance. The Dodgers are just 5-12 against the run line in his starts, another indication that the market consistently charges too much for the uniform and team record.
Manaea’s career history against Los Angeles is ugly, but his current form is not materially worse than Sasaki’s. He has struck out 17 batters with only four walks over his last three starts, and the veteran has shown the ability to compete against this lineup before, allowing only two runs over five innings in his most recent regular-season start against the Dodgers.
The bullpen comparison also helps New York. Both relief units entered with an identical 3.16 ERA, while the Dodgers’ bullpen had allowed nine earned runs, 11 hits and six walks over its previous nine innings. Los Angeles is also navigating a lengthy injury list that includes Will Smith, Blake Treinen, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow and several other pitchers.
New York returns home after an off day, while Los Angeles is playing the third stop of an extended road trip. Juan Soto also received Wednesday off, followed by Thursday’s scheduled day off, giving the Mets’ best hitter additional recovery time for his sore calf.
The Dodgers deserve to be favored, but -135 to -145 is too expensive with Sasaki’s road problems and inconsistent form. New York has the rest advantage, a rested bullpen, the largest Luck Gap on the board and a starting-pitching matchup that is far closer than the teams’ records.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS -111 OVER TAMPA BAY
This is the strongest Luck Gap play on Thursday’s card. Tampa Bay ranks No. 1 in TeamRankings’ Luck Ratings at +8.87, while Toronto sits No. 28 at -5.78—a massive 14.65-point gap. We believe the significantly unluckier team is the value side.
The current series results make Toronto uncomfortable, but they also inflate Tampa Bay’s market value. The Rays have won the first three games and are 8-1 against Toronto this season, yet the Blue Jays remain a small home favorite. That is a strong oddsmaker signal.
Toronto also has the more trustworthy starting-pitcher upside. Shane Bieber is coming off six shutout innings against the White Sox, allowing only three hits while striking out six. He owns a solid 3.27 career ERA in seven starts against Tampa Bay.
Rays starter Ian Seymour has a 5.96 ERA across his last five appearances, averaging only 4.1 innings. He has allowed nine earned runs and five home runs over his last three outings, forcing Tampa Bay to lean heavily on a bullpen that has already worked throughout the series.
Toronto has committed six errors and scored only six runs during the first three games. Those struggles are real, but they are also difficult to sustain indefinitely. Back the extreme Luck Gap, the pitching bounce-back and the telling home-favorite price.

WHITE SOX -107 Rangers
This is an outsourced pick from the short-list of very entrusted experts. Previously called a competitor consensus, the name was changed to reflect it does not always come from the few quality professionals who sell picks, but also can come from any sharp source. As long as I am not leaning the other way, I will bet a trusted outscource.
This is a strong bounce-back spot after Chicago was embarrassed 10-0 Tuesday, but that blowout does not accurately reflect the matchup. The White Sox won the opener 10-3, own the better record, have scored considerably more runs this season and are still 7-3 in the last 10 meetings with Texas.
Anthony Kay gives Chicago the starting-pitching edge. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts, posting a 3.13 ERA during that stretch. Kay has also been considerably better recently than his 4.24 season ERA suggests.
Texas counters with Cal Quantrill, who owns a 3.93 ERA and 1.29 WHIP, but his underlying .339 expected wOBA is worse than his actual .325 wOBA. That suggests some regression remains possible against a White Sox lineup averaging 4.79 runs per game.
The Rangers’ offense erupted for 18 hits Tuesday and went 7-for-10 with runners in scoring position—an extreme performance that is difficult to repeat. Texas also may be without Josh Jung after he exited that game with calf tightness.
Chicago has the superior season record, superior run production and a favorable starting-pitcher comparison. We will back the White Sox to rebound and take the series finale.

BLUE JAYS -103 OVER RAYS
Toronto is the value side because the market is asking bettors to lay a price with a Tampa Bay team whose record has been boosted by one of baseball’s largest positive Luck Ratings.
The Rays own a +8.30 Luck Rating, while Toronto sits at -5.20, creating a substantial 13.50-game Luck Gap. Under the Luck Gap theory, Tampa Bay is significantly overvalued and the Blue Jays are undervalued. Toronto is the bet at essentially even money.
Kevin Gausman’s overall 4.33 ERA is unimpressive, but his home splits are considerably stronger. At Rogers Centre, Gausman owns a 3.50 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and .266 opponent on-base percentage. His recent strikeout form also remains sharp, with 23 strikeouts over his last three starts.
Drew Rasmussen carries the better season-long numbers, but his current form is a major concern. Over his last two starts, Rasmussen has surrendered 11 earned runs, 13 hits and three home runs in only 7⅓ innings. His ERA across his last three outings is 7.42, with opponents reaching base at a .350 rate.
Toronto already showed it can score against Rasmussen. He faced the Blue Jays twice in May and allowed three earned runs in each game. In the May 11 meeting at Toronto, the Blue Jays scored five runs overall and Rasmussen gave up three runs, four hits and a home run in six innings.
The bullpen matchup provides Toronto with another meaningful advantage. The Blue Jays’ relief corps owns a 3.36 ERA, compared with Tampa Bay’s 3.82. More importantly, Toronto’s available bullpen enters with a 2.89 ERA, while Tampa Bay’s available relievers have a 4.47 ERA. Tampa Bay’s bullpen has also recorded a 5.19 ERA over its last three games.
Toronto is also coming off a 7-1 loss in Monday’s opener, creating a favorable buy-low situation. Tampa Bay won as a +157 underdog, but now the market has flipped the Rays into a road favorite. That is a substantial adjustment based on one game and creates value on the home team.
The season records favor Tampa Bay, but the underlying indicators say the difference between these clubs has been exaggerated. Toronto has the massive Luck Gap advantage, the stronger bullpen, Gausman’s favorable home splits and a good opportunity to rebound after an ugly series-opening defeat.
BET: TORONTO BLUE JAYS -103

METS +170 Brewers
At first glance this looks like an easy Milwaukee play. The Brewers own the much better record, Jacob Misiorowski has been sensational with a 1.62 ERA, and they're coming off a sweep of Miami. That's exactly why the Mets are offering value.
The biggest reason is the Luck Factor. New York owns a -9.22 Luck Rating, the lowest in baseball, while Milwaukee sits at +5.97, one of the highest. The 15.19-point gap is the largest on Monday's board. Our long-held theory is that the market eventually overprices the luckiest teams and discounts the unluckiest ones, creating value on clubs like the Mets.
The pitching matchup isn't as lopsided as the ERA suggests. Misiorowski has been dominant, but this is his first start since July 7 after missing his final pre-break outing because of arm fatigue. Milwaukee says the extra rest was precautionary, but any time a young pitcher returns after an extended layoff, there's at least some uncertainty about workload and sharpness.
Meanwhile, Freddy Peralta's season numbers (4.66 ERA) are inflated by a handful of disastrous outings. His strikeout ability remains intact with 104 punchouts in just over 104 innings, giving him swing-and-miss stuff capable of matching up with any lineup on a given night. If he simply avoids the big inning, the underdog price becomes attractive.
The Mets also arrive with momentum after taking the series finale in Philadelphia, beating the Phillies 6-1 behind six shutout innings from Nolan McLean while Francisco Lindor powered the offense with three hits and three RBIs.
Finally, this line appears to be charging a premium for Milwaukee's recent form. The Brewers have won six of their last ten and just completed a sweep, while New York's poor overall record continues to suppress its market value. That's exactly the type of pricing imbalance Luck Factor seeks to exploit.
Bottom line: Milwaukee is the better team, but betting is about price, not simply picking the better club. With the largest Luck Gap of the day (15.19), a live strikeout pitcher in Peralta, and a sizable underdog return, the Mets offer the stronger betting value than the odds imply.

BRAVES +105 Rangers
The value is with Atlanta as a small underdog. At +105, the Braves only need to win 48.8% of the time to break even, yet our primary simulation projects them considerably higher. SportsLine makes Atlanta approximately a 61% winner, creating a substantial edge over the implied odds and making this one of the stronger moneyline values this simulator offers as it rarely gets into double digit EV.
The pitching matchup also isn't as lopsided as the market suggests. Texas has been inconsistent against quality right-handed pitching, while Atlanta has the offensive firepower to capitalize if the Rangers' starter makes even a few mistakes. The Braves' lineup is capable of generating crooked numbers quickly, giving them the higher offensive ceiling.
Atlanta also profiles well in what projects as a competitive game. At plus money, we're not asking the Braves to dominate—only to win the game more often than the market implies. When a respected simulator gives a team a double-digit edge over the implied probability, those are exactly the underdogs we're looking to back.
With the Braves needing just 48.8% to justify a +105 ticket while our top-rated simulation projects them at 61%, the mathematical value is simply too large to ignore.

METS +146 Phillies
The Phillies have the superior record and the stronger starting pitcher on paper, but New York offers substantial value at +150 or better. Currently, it’s a few cents less, but still great value as a free pick.
The foundation is the 11.73-game Luck Gap. Philadelphia owns a +2.45 Luck Rating, while the Mets sit dead last at -9.28. Under the Luck Gap theory, Philadelphia has performed better than its underlying results warrant, while New York has been dramatically undervalued.
Sean Manaea’s overall 4.56 ERA is misleading. He has allowed only two earned runs in four of his last five starts, including two earned over 5⅓ innings in a 6-4 victory at Philadelphia on June 18. He also enters off his strongest start of the season: seven innings, two earned runs, six strikeouts and one walk against Kansas City.
Jesús Luzardo is pitching exceptionally well, but his extreme splits make laying this price dangerous. Luzardo has a 6.60 home ERA and 1.38 WHIP, compared with a 1.54 ERA on the road. The Mets also limited him to five innings while scoring one run and drawing three walks on June 28. Juan Soto is confirmed in New York’s lineup and owns a 1.041 career OPS in 29 plate appearances against Luzardo.
The most significant advantage comes after the starters. New York’s bullpen has a 3.35 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, compared with Philadelphia’s 4.45 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. The Phillies’ relief staff has been especially vulnerable recently, surrendering 15 runs—14 earned—in 11⅓ innings across its last three games. Philadelphia is also missing multiple relievers, including Brad Keller, Tanner Banks and Lou Trivino; Keller has reportedly been lost for the season with a UCL tear.
New York has already won four of seven 2026 meetings, including Thursday’s 4-1 victory in Philadelphia. Francisco Alvarez supplied two home runs in that win, while the Mets’ bullpen protected the lead.
There is also a potential weather variable, with thunderstorms forecast around the scheduled first pitch. Any interruption that shortens Luzardo’s appearance would magnify New York’s bullpen advantage.
Bottom line: Luzardo is the biggest obstacle, but the price overstates Philadelphia’s overall advantage. The massive Luck Gap, Luzardo’s poor home splits, Manaea’s recent improvement, Soto’s matchup history and New York’s considerable bullpen edge make Mets +150 or better the value side.

Major League Baseball has revamped the Home Run Derby format, and early reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
From BetOnline https://t.co/VPjaYsSUEi
Instead of the timed format used in recent years, hitters are back to a swing-based competition, receiving a set number of swings each round. There's also an exciting wrinkle: if a player homers on his final scheduled swing, he keeps hitting until he records an out.
The new format has also sparked a fresh betting menu at BetOnline, featuring everything from the outright champion to longest home run, highest exit velocity, total home runs, and several unique prop bets.

MARINERS -105 Rays
The Mariners are a prime value play thanks to a combination of market signals, pitching, and one of the day's strongest regression indicators.
The biggest edge comes from the Luck Gap. Seattle enters at -4.29 while Tampa Bay sits at +6.17, creating a 10.46-game gap. That tells us the Mariners have underperformed their underlying performance while the Rays have benefited from positive variance. When the gap becomes this significant, we expect regression to narrow the difference over time, creating value on the less fortunate club.
The pitching matchup also favors Seattle. Logan Gilbert has been one of the American League's most consistent starters, posting a 3.19 ERA and 0.95 WHIP while dominating away from home with a 1.73 road ERA. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his last nine starts and owns a 1.87 ERA over his last five outings, averaging more than six innings per start. He also shut out Tampa Bay over six innings with 10 strikeouts the last time he faced the Rays in St. Petersburg.
Tampa Bay counters with Griffin Jax, who has pitched well since joining the rotation, but he's still averaging only about five innings per start. That puts greater pressure on a Rays bullpen carrying a significantly higher ERA than Seattle's relief corps. The Mariners' bullpen has been one of baseball's strengths, entering with a 2.91 ERA, giving Seattle a meaningful advantage once the starters exit.
Seattle's season record may not jump off the page, but that's exactly why this is an attractive betting opportunity. The market often prices teams based on wins and losses, while the Luck Factor suggests the Mariners have been considerably better than their record indicates. Combining that regression angle with Gilbert's outstanding current form and the bullpen edge creates a strong investment opportunity.
With a 10.46-game Luck Gap, an ace-level starter in excellent form, and a superior bullpen behind him, the Mariners offer value in a matchup where the underlying metrics paint a more favorable picture than the standings.
