Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa has sparked debate on social media after sharing her views on the nature of romantic relationships, arguing that relationships between men and women have always been transactional.
Expanding on her point, Toke Makinwa explained that “transactional” should not be interpreted solely in financial terms. According to her, relationships are built on mutual exchange, with each partner bringing something of value to the table while expecting something in return. She cited examples such as emotional support, companionship, protection, provision, loyalty and shared values as forms of exchange that exist in most relationships.
Her remarks have since generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users agreed that relationships naturally involve mutual benefit and responsibility, others disagreed with her use of the word “transactional,” arguing that genuine love should not be viewed as an exchange.

Today marks what would have been the 65th birthday of Princess Diana, one of the most beloved and influential figures in modern history. Born on July 1, 1961, Diana captured the hearts of millions around the world, earning the enduring title of “The People’s Princess” for her compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes.
Unlike many royals of her time, Diana broke traditional barriers by connecting directly with ordinary people. Whether comforting children in hospitals, embracing AIDS patients during a period of widespread fear and stigma, or campaigning tirelessly against the use of landmines, she used her global platform to bring attention to some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian issues.
Even after her separation from the British royal family, Diana continued her charity work with the same passion, proving that her commitment to helping others went far beyond royal duty.
Tragically, Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997, at just 36 years old.
Nearly three decades later, her influence remains as powerful as ever. Around the world, she is remembered not only as a princess but as a humanitarian whose kindness transcended borders, inspired millions, and forever changed the image of modern royalty.
