@chicagotechmom What?!? Teachers here (UK) way back when were men, or unmarried women. Married women stopped working to have families. They did not teach.

@Headteacherchat Tops - I’ve mellowed on this. I used to subscribe to “don’t want to see up to, down it or through it” but that risks equating clothing choices with sexual provocation, and that should not happen.

@Headteacherchat I like a code that allows what appropriate for the person’s role.
Shorts - generally fine, required in some roles (PE, swimming)
Same for open-toed shoes (not in DT, food tech, science, probably ok for English & Maths) Bare feet if appropriate (dance, drama)

Top right and bottom left would almost certainly be raised as health & saftey concerns from the hanging items and fabric drapes (either fire safety or interfering with intruder alarm systems)
But also, these are not rooms for adults to learn!

@MrDanielBuck Hard disagree. It isn't always the result. My friend gentle parents her daughter, and her daughter is a credit to her... You seem to confuse gentle parenting with weak permissive parenting.... they're not the same.

@RetirementTales My first school had a smoking room... it became the PPA room, sadly it wasn't fumigated first though and the small of decades-old tobacco hung around! I wonder if it still pervades the "new" houses built on the school site now?!?
