“According to the Christian Gospel, then, there is and can be no other God than this God whose very Bering is the One who loves us an will not be without us, for the Being of God . . .
. . . although not apart from his saving activity in history, for what he is toward us and for us in history he is in himself, and what he is in himself he is toward us and for us in history.” #thomastorrance
“In sharp contrast with every other religion, Christianity stands for the fact that in Jesus Christ God has communicated to us his Word and has imparted to us his Spirit, so that we may really know him as he is in himself . . .
“Christoformity is a God orientation where the grace of God-in-Christ given to a person prompts Body-of-Christ orientation in generosity, especially toward the poor.” Reading Romans Backwards - #ScotMcknight.
Barth of the miracle of Christmas: “God’s revelation in its objective reality is the incarnation of His Word, in that He, the one true and eternal God, is at the same time true Man like us.” CD 1/2 (172).

The first and most visceral thing that we all hold in common is our humanity. This humanity that has been redeemed by Christ and will be restored by Christ.
Found a great book on prayer in my library - “Prayer: A New Encounter” by Martin Thornton. Thornton is an Anglican and author of numerous book. The book addresses the “Why” of prayer vs. the “How” of prayer. I’m looking forward to reading it. #pray
Anyone know any statistics on prayer, specifically evangelicals: how often do you pray, how long do you pray, when do you pray, do you value prayer, how do you pray, do you believe in the power of prayer, etc?
