🚨MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT🚨
Ok. You've all convinced me. I'm in.
I'm running for Senate against billionaire Pete Ricketts In Nebraska.
This race represents the foundational battle taking place in America right now:
The Billionaire Class vs. The Working Class
Who's with me?
🤔 Politicians, commodity traders, major beef processors, and corporate executives will never really understand or consider the gritty, daily realities in Cattle Country, USA.
For the American rancher, there isn’t a health insurance package, retirement 401k plan, weekends off, paid vacation time, or holidays off with pay. Heck, there really isn’t a guaranteed paycheck at all.
Lightning strikes, snake bites, sickness, parasites, birthing issues, and just plain bad luck costs a cattleman thousands on any given day.
Drought, wildfire, fuel prices, property taxes, and feed costs are all out of their control, too.
Then, divorce, anger, alcoholism, and other social problems creep in when producers are overwhelmed and unable to pay their bills.
Most of my generation were told to move away and find a better way of life. A climate controlled desk job with benefits and weekends off. So they did it. And now, America is struggling to produce its own food.
If politicians want cheaper or more abundant beef, they need to support and stabilize policies that incentivize the next generation of producers who will commit to this life because it’s financially sustainable.
The last time I checked, China didn’t have any cowboys, abundant aquifers of cold, clean water, or endless prairies of grass filled with the finest herds of beef genetics. Offshoring our food sources cannot happen. And, Artificial Intelligence won’t deliver a calf or build a fence anytime soon.
Remember this, Washington, D.C., don’t continue to lose the American beef herd by making it impossible for the American rancher to succeed. These hardworking, loyal patriots are irreplaceable.
Gerrymandering is a stain on our elections. Democrats do it. Republicans do it.
I support requiring every state to establish truly independent redistricting commissions made up of ordinary citizens, not politicians or lobbyists.
Politicians should never be allowed to draw their own maps. Period.
Getting an MBA shouldn’t be the only path to success. America needs electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians. We have to invest in trade schools, apprenticeships, and the hardworking Americans who keep this country running.
It has been 488 days since Pete Ricketts’ last town hall.
As a reminder, a town hall is:
-Advertised in advance.
-A public event that anyone can attend.
-A place where the candidate takes unscreened questions.
I visited Teamster Local 554’s picket line again yesterday. 47 workers have now been on strike for 204 days. All they’re asking for is a fair contract and the new owners, Glazers Beer & Beverage, are not negotiating in good faith.
These workers deserve a contract that recognizes their hard work.
Our farmers and ranchers keep getting the short end of the stick. First tariffs, then an unnecessary war. Now we have a beef deal that undercuts American cattle producers.
We can't keep sending the same people to Washington and expect a different result. It's time for a change.
Bezos, Thiel, Zuckerberg, Ricketts are the modern day robber barons stripping this country bare. They expect us to be happy paying more while owning less. Our politicians should be standing up to this unchecked corporate greed.
The administration needs to scrap this deal. Yes, we need lower beef prices, but we can't do that by importing foreign beef at a discount, undermining our American ranchers and making them compete with lower foreign prices. Our ranching industry is already struggling, and this makes things way worse. This isn’t America First. Nebraska is the beef state, and our ranchers deserve better.
