Cities need detailed traffic data, and residents need their privacy. Cameras force a tradeoff between the two. Ouster BlueCity is designed with system-level privacy features at the edge, capturing the movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists without collecting facial, license plate, or other biometric data
Native color lidar on Rev8 adds richer detail to that picture, so BlueCity blurs pedestrians directly at the intersection to keep personally identifiable information out of the data entirely. Municipalities and DOTs get full situational awareness for the traffic team while everyone in the crosswalk stays anonymous
🚦Top 3 intersections as of now:
1. 5th & 3rd St, Brooklyn NY
2. Broadway & Waterman Dr, Portland ME
3. North Maine & Western Blvd, Jacksonville NC

The OS1 Max stacks 256 channels into a 45° vertical field of view. That is double the angular sampling density of a standard OS1, with up to 500 m of range and 10.4 million points per second
More channels is the difference between a few returns on a distant pedestrian and enough points to classify them with confidence. Here, points accumulated from a drive down Potrero Avenue in San Francisco. With our new L4 Max silicon, the OS1 Max resolves objects precisely, even at range
Our team is on the way to @AutomateShow in Chicago!
Stop by booth 4285 to see how Ouster Rev8 is powering perception for physical AI across robotics, industrial automation, and smart infrastructure
And don't miss a live demo at the @Advantech_USA booth (3914): fused lidar and stereo perception with @Stereolabs3D ZED X cameras and an OS1
Late at night, a camera struggles to see without street lighting, just like a human would.
Lidar emits its own laser pulses and measures the return. Every pedestrian here is detected as clearly at 2:00 am as at 2:00 pm. Even in total darkness, lidar captures range, shape, and motion.
Just like a vehicle, a lidar traffic system can detect road users well in advance and act on that information, actuating a signal or sending proactive alerts.
AIM also plans to integrate Rev8 to further advance the perception capabilities of its next-gen automated machinery with precise 3D structural data, color point clouds, and industrial-grade imagery to safely accelerate autonomous operations in the complex, unstructured environments.
✔️ Faster edge-computing
✔️ Streamlined sensor fusion
✔️ Enhanced safety and object classification
✔️ Industry-leading reliability in high-dust workflows
"Our strategic agreement allows us to scale the deployment of AI-powered fleets today, while the new Rev8 native color lidar will enable us to enhance the capabilities of our platform for future programs, delivering the human-like sight and spatial precision required with a single sensor.” - Ross Walker, Head of Product at AIM
Ouster and AIM Machines Announce Strategic Agreement for Digital Lidar to Equip AI-Powered Heavy Earthmoving Equipment Following the Release of REV8 with Native Color
As AIM scales the deployment of its field-proven autonomy kits to deliver on key customer contracts and meet growing market demand, the strategic agreement guarantees a high-volume supply of Ouster’s high-resolution digital lidar sensors.

With color, lidar point clouds get the extra visual semantic detail to disambiguate similar objects
This is Rev8 OS1 @noxmetals in Detroit. Every point carries 3D geometry and 48-bit native color, so people, pallets and machines are immediately legible for a machine to act
Proud to share that Ouster BlueCity is now on Rev8, making BlueCity the world's first native color lidar traffic management solution
One system that does the job of multiple cameras, radars, and inductive loops: advance detection up to 500 ft, multimodal signal actuation, real-time safety alerts, and 24/7 analytics
"Rev8 is a prime example of their ability to push the boundaries of what's possible in sensing technology. We are proud to continue our journey with Ouster, providing a secure, reliable foundation for the next era of Physical AI." - David A Moezidis, President & CEO at Benchmark.
"Benchmark has been a foundational partner in Ouster’s growth story and the natural fit to scale manufacturing for our breakthrough Rev8 sensors. Through our well-honed supply chain ecosystem, our customers can be confident in our ability to reliably deliver the most advanced, cybersecure, and functionally safe native color lidar sensors at high volume to support their long-term programs." - Darien Spencer, COO at Ouster.
Ouster and @BenchElec Expand Partnership to Scale Volume Production of New REV8 Digital Lidar Sensors

Last week, we hosted the inaugural Ouster Korea Day! 🇰🇷
We connected with engineering and business leaders across Korea's robotics, automotive, and smart infrastructure sectors, introducing the Rev8 OS family and demoing Gemini and Ouster BlueCity.
Korea is an exciting market for Physical AI, and the momentum we saw confirms it. Thanks again to our speakers, our guests, and everyone who made the day special. We look forward to continuing to build here.
감사합니다!
Another great @ITS_America in the books! Our team had a blast catching up with customers and partners this week and demoing BlueCity on Rev8
Thank you to everyone who stopped by. Fun seeing Ouster in the wild at the @AdastecCorp@Cisco and @Econolite_ITS booths 🚦
Traffic detection usually comes down to a choice between radar for speed, cameras for classification, or loops for presence. Ouster BlueCity now delivers speed, classification and presence with up to 500 ft advance detection, powered by native color 3D lidar on the new Rev8 OS1 Max
The strip at the top is not a camera. That is the live 2D native color data coming straight off the Rev8 OS1 Max, classifying pedestrians, cyclists, cars, and trucks in real time
Ouster BlueCity is now on Rev8, bringing 500 ft advance detection to traffic management, powered by the world's first native color lidar
Native color does more than make the point cloud intuitive to read. Combining color and 3D depth in a single sensor improves detection accuracy and range, and because Ouster builds both the lidar and the edge perception software, Ouster BlueCity takes full advantage of it
Proud to work with the City of Stamford, CT, the first city in the nation to use a native color lidar traffic management system
We're also proud to share the first deployment with the
@CityofStamford in Connecticut, enabling advanced, 360° corridor-level detection to optimize traffic flow, reduce vehicle idle times, and minimize gridlock spillback.
Today, we announced the release of Ouster BlueCity powered by Rev8, introducing 500ft advanced detection and the world’s first native color lidar detection system for traffic management.
