RWA Weekly | EU weighs MiCA updates for tokenization and non-EU stablecoins; Swift and 17 banks to pilot tokenized cross-border payments
This week, the total on-chain RWA market cap returned to growth after months of decline, reaching $33.12 billion. The stablecoin market also climbed back above $300 billion, while monthly transfer volume, active addresses, and holder counts all continued to recover.
On the regulatory front, China’s Ministry of Commerce and eight other agencies issued guidance to promote the use of the digital yuan in consumer voucher issuance and settlement. The EU is reportedly considering MiCA revisions to cover tokenization and non-EU stablecoins. Kazakhstan will allow companies and government entities to use stablecoins for cross-border payments. HSBC Hong Kong completed its first “digitally native” structured product issuance.
On the project side, @swiftcommunity said its blockchain ledger is ready, with 17 global banks set to pilot tokenized cross-border payments. @OndoFinance launched a perpetuals platform that supports tokenized U.S. equities as collateral. @Sony received conditional approval from the U.S. OCC and plans to launch a stablecoin trust bank in 2027.
On financing, @Securitize plans to deploy more than $400 million for acquisitions to expand its institutional tokenization business. @tether invested $20 million in Brazil’s @MercadoBitcoin to expand on-chain financial services.

PANews Original | Stablecoins Are Becoming the New Dollar Rails
Stablecoins are undergoing a major identity shift: from crypto trading tools to global financial infrastructure.
According to a @BinanceResearch report, more users are treating stablecoins as long-term asset allocation tools and dollar-denominated savings products. This is especially true in emerging markets facing high inflation and capital restrictions, where stablecoins are becoming a key way to preserve purchasing power.
At the same time, the stablecoin market is moving into a more segmented phase. ethereum:0xa0b86991c6218b36c1d19d4a2e9eb0ce3606eb48 is gaining ground in large-value settlement, DeFi, and on-chain finance, supported by regulatory tailwinds and institutional demand. solana:Es9vMFrzaCERmJfrF4H2FYD4KCoNkY11McCe8BenwNYB, meanwhile, continues to rely on its global distribution network to dominate cross-border payments, remittances, and high-frequency transfers.
But regulation is also reshaping the competitive landscape. Tether is shifting more focus from mature U.S. and European markets toward emerging markets, Bitcoin payment rails, and its gold-backed asset ecosystem. New players such as OUSD are also challenging traditional stablecoin issuers with alliance-based distribution models.
The next stablecoin race will be about who can capture real-world use cases.

PANews Original |MiCA’s Crypto Shakeout Has a Clear Winner: Germany
As MiCA moves into full enforcement, Europe’s crypto industry is going through a regulatory reset.
According to the @FinancialTimes, only around 12% of crypto firms in the EU were authorized to keep operating under the new rules as of July 1, with 244 entities receiving CASP authorization. Germany alone accounts for 57 MiCA-authorized CASPs, roughly 23% of the EU total, making it one of the most important compliance hubs in the bloc.
Germany’s edge is not just the number of licenses. Long before MiCA, the country had already brought crypto custody, trading, brokerage, and payment-related activities into existing banking, securities, and payments frameworks, creating a clearer path for regulated crypto businesses.
Now, Germany’s crypto stack is moving beyond exchanges. Bank apps, tokenized securities, on-chain settlement, and euro stablecoin infrastructure are becoming part of the same digital finance buildout.
Europe’s next crypto race may not be about who can launch tokens first, but who controls licenses, banking distribution, custody, settlement, and financial infrastructure.

⚡️BREAKING: Alibaba’s real-time speech model just proved it can handle more than Mandarin.
Fun-ASR-Realtime powered a 100-hour livestream, generating over 60,000 live captions and 1.32 million Chinese characters in real time.
The bigger flex: dialect recognition.
The model supports 16 Chinese dialects and 30 languages, with an average 88.62% character accuracy across dialect tests, leading in 12 categories.
According to Alibaba, the model also performed well on some of China’s hardest-to-recognize regional dialects, especially dialects spoken across Zhejiang and Jiangsu.
The company says accuracy rates reached 92.41% for Shanghainese, 89.21% for Suzhou dialect, and 82.74% for Wenzhou dialect — often described as one of the hardest Chinese dialects to understand.
Meanwhile, its offline model Fun-ASR-Flash recently topped the global Artificial Analysis ASR ranking with a 1.7% error rate.
Real-time speech AI is no longer just about speed, it is starting to understand how people actually speak.

PANews Original | Robinhood Chain Wanted RWA. The Market Chose a Cat
@RobinhoodApp Chain has been live for only a week, but the first thing to ignite its on-chain ecosystem was not RWA, tokenized stocks, or DeFi. It was a cat.
The cat-themed memecoin cash-cat:native went viral by tapping into Robinhood’s early “Cash Cat” brand story. After Robinhood CEO @vladtenev publicly interacted with the meme narrative, the market took it as a positive signal for Robinhood Chain’s meme ecosystem. CashCat’s market cap briefly topped $100 million, while DEX volume, bridge TVL, and active addresses on the chain surged alongside it.
Still, meme-driven momentum is usually short-lived. Robinhood Chain’s real ambition remains on-chain finance. The network now holds more than $340 million in on-chain assets, with stablecoins and lending protocols driving most of the activity. RWA assets, however, still account for less than 4%.
For Robinhood Chain, CashCat may have solved the cold-start problem. The real test is whether financial applications can take over from here.

PANews Original | South Korea’s Leveraged ETF Experiment Is Blowing Up
South Korea’s stock market is facing a trust crisis triggered by leveraged products.
On July 8, the KOSPI extended its sharp sell-off, falling more than 20% from its June peak and entering technical bear-market territory. At the center of the turmoil are newly approved 2x single-stock leveraged products.
To stem retail capital outflows into overseas markets, Korean regulators allowed asset managers to launch leveraged and inverse products tied to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. But in a highly concentrated market, the daily rebalancing mechanism behind leveraged ETFs has amplified late-session selling pressure and market volatility.
The outcome: brokers and market makers collected fees, while retail investors suffered heavy losses from premium traps, negative compounding, and structural product decay. South Korea’s National Assembly has now opened a review, while regulators have apologized publicly and are considering delisting or corrective measures.
The episode is another reminder: liquidity built on leverage often gets paid back through even more violent volatility.

PANews Original | Strategy’s “Never-Sell” Bitcoin Thesis Faces a Cash-Flow Test
Strategy’s “buy and never sell” Bitcoin narrative is starting to collide with cash-flow reality.
After testing the waters in June with a sale of just 32 bitcoin:native, @Strategy has now sold 3,588 BTC for roughly $216 million, using the proceeds to fund preferred stock dividends and strengthen its dollar reserves. Unlike the first small sale, this was a much larger transaction, and reportedly done at a realized loss.
The pressure is clear: as dividend obligations tied to STRC and other preferred shares continue to rise, Strategy’s annual cash dividend bill has climbed above $1.7 billion. At the same time, the capital flywheel that once allowed the company to issue equity and keep buying Bitcoin has slowed sharply.
This does not mean Strategy is walking away from Bitcoin. But it does suggest a shift from aggressive accumulation to a more defensive phase focused on liquidity, capital structure management, and balance sheet resilience.
If BTC sales become recurring, $MSTR’s Bitcoin proxy narrative and confidence in the broader DAT model could face a much tougher test.

PANews Original | Crypto’s July Rebound: Bottom Signals Flash, but Bitcoin Still Needs $70K
July has brought crypto markets their first real relief rally in weeks.
bitcoin:native has climbed back above $63,000, while ethereum:native has gained more than 12% over the past week. Altcoins and memecoins are also seeing renewed momentum, supported by improving macro expectations, fresh ETF inflows, whale accumulation near recent lows, and a wave of short liquidations in derivatives markets.
Still, this looks more like a relief rally than a confirmed trend reversal. Several on-chain indicators are pointing to a potential bottom, with the Fear & Greed Index, AHR999, and miner stress gauges all sitting near historically low levels. But spot demand remains soft, institutional investors are still cautious, and selling pressure across altcoins has yet to meaningfully ease.
For now, $64K, $68K, and $70K are the key levels to watch for Bitcoin. A decisive move above $70K could be the signal that the market is moving beyond a bear-market rebound and into a broader trend reversal.
