In June, the Safety and Well Being department hosted the closing ceremony and conference for FUSION (Fostering Unity, Safety, Inclusion and ONeness) 2025-2026. Students in Grades 4-8 shared their school accomplishments in carrying out plans they made last school year for student-led change.
By turning their ideas into action, students demonstrated the power of youth leadership while achieving meaningful goals and creating safer, more caring, and equitable school communities.
In June, West Credit Secondary School had the grand opening of their brand new STAC (Science Technology Application Centre) Hub Innovation Accelerator. This new hub space was designed to service their school community and that of its feeder schools.
STAC is a dynamic program designed to provide hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for students. Through engaging, real-world projects, it equips students with the essential skills and competencies they need to become confident and creative thinkers.
STAC is more than just a program; it's a hub of innovation where students can explore their passions in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
As the school year came to a close, the Heart Lake Secondary School community, incoming Grade 9 students, and alumni had the chance to join @ChefDevan for a live cooking demonstration. Chef was on hand to walk attendees through his recipe for Mango & Tamarind Crunch Salad with Smoky Tofu - a delight for the senses.
The event brought the community together, creating a vibrant space where learning, connection, and community flourished. Families exchanged ideas, asked questions, and celebrated each step of the cooking process, leaving them inspired to try something new at home.

This August, 15 Ontario high school students will become the first-ever all-girls delegation to represent the Cricket Across the Pond leadership program in England.
Representing Peel District School Board and Toronto District School Board, these young women aren't just travelling to compete, they're travelling to lead. Through cricket, they'll build leadership skills, visit iconic venues, and return home ready to inspire the next generation of female athletes.
A special shoutout to the students from Stephen Lewis Secondary School, three-time cricket champions, as well as those from Turner Fenton Secondary School, who are joining this historic tour.
Congratulations to this trailblazing team, and best of luck as you represent Ontario and Canada on the international stage!
